Editorial Reviews

The Barnes & Noble Review
SolidWorks doesn't get AutoCAD's publicity, but it's developed a large, passionate, and well-deserved following among CAD users working in 3D mechanical design. Whether you're just starting out with it or you want to gain far deeper mastery, Matt Lombard can help. His SolidWorks Bible distills everything he's learned as a longtime professional user, trainer, and host of one of the world's top SolidWorks sites.

SolidWorks closely follows Windows' interface conventions, with plenty of drag-and-drop, point-and-click, and so forth. So it's intuitive -- but there's still plenty to learn. Lombard covers it all, in some 150 tutorials. Just some of what you'll master: SolidWorks' parametric approach; sketching; building parts with intelligence; working with assemblies; using libraries, automating drawings; even multibody modeling and specialized techniques for working with sheet metal.

Realistic, practical, and thorough, this is the SolidWorks book a lot of people have been hoping for. Bill Camarda, from the August 2007 Read Only

I meet Matt at SolidWorks World this year. Sorry, I¿m not impressed. The description of the book states: ¿The most complete resource for SolidWorks on the market. Matt Lombard's in-depth knowledge plus his snappy wit and wisdom make SolidWorks accessible to users at all levels.¿ Sheer size with bad wit does not make a book good. It did nothing for this book.

Not for the beginner, or someone that is trying to learn Solidworks. The book is very confusing and poorly written. Not the same quality of information from the Bible series with AutoCAD. The files on the CD do not work!

The book is of poor print quality, image quality, and lacks massive areas of explanation in key areas for the beginner and intermediate SW user. I¿ve been using SW for two years plus, and I find this book very difficult to follow and use. The CD in the book has been little or no help to me, since in has made my system crash numerous times and I¿ve not been able to open numerous files. This book is a big disappointment.

I purchased this book thinking it would be excellent addition to my Office¿s reference library. After reading it, I realized this book needs to stay out and on the desk. This is a well written and organized reference manual. Whether you are just getting started or a CSWP 'Certified Solidworks Professional' you will find nuggets of information in SolidWorks 2007. Excellent book I would recommend this to anybody who is serious about Solidworks!
