The timbre of the trombone and organ is complementary. Few instruments are able to compete with the volume, color and depth of sound of the trombone as well as the modern pipe organ. Despite the existence of over one-hundred-and-fifty original compositions for trombone and organ, there is neither a useful listing nor an annotated guide for these works. This project is intended to correct that deficiency, to create interest in this body of literature and to broaden the repertory and performance opportunities for trombonists outside the typical performance venues. This document consists of an annotated bibliography of original music for trombone and organ. Annotations for each work include information about the composer, general stylistic comments, performance notes and available recordings. Appendices include a list of works by difficulty, a discography and a list of publishers with their contact information.
