Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
This 1972 sequel to Green's Horse Tradin' offers more of the same type of illustrated anecdotal stories about raising and selling horses. Green was a veterinarian in Texas, and he came across a number of colorful characters--some four-legged--throughout his career. Anyone interested in good ol' boy-type Americana will have fun with this. Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.\
John R. Erickson
“Ben Green has won the approval of the sternest literary critics I know—ranch cowboys. In old Doc’s books, they recognize a man who knew horses and cattle to the bone and could tell about them with honest prose and a sly cowboy sense of humor. I’ve read them all, as have most of the cowboys I know.”—John R. Erickson, rancher and author of the Hank the Cowdog series

IF YOU'VE EVER TRADED HORSES OR LIVED WITH A HORSE TRADER YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!

A fellow horse person who was raised in Oklahoma suggested I read this book. My father in law and husband were Auctioneers and Horse Traders and this was like going down the road listening to their experiences.

The chapters were not too long but yet you realized after reading each of them that a lot had happened and in most cases it sounded very familiar. Being an animal lover, all aspects of this group of short stories just summed up Ken Green's life. It was a treasure of friendships both with the horses he bought and sold and the people he dealt with in doing so. Sometimes he had to go the extra mile with a particular horse/horses to get them ready to sell, but he had lots of good ideas that seemed to always work.

Once again, I thought it was great and plan on reading some of his other books as well. One of the chapters I liked the best was entitled "The Shield Mares" which told of a group of mares he bought from The Shield Ranch and some very interesting things resulting from that purchase.

    Enjoy!

This book is a great read. I can really relate with Mr. Green's stories. They are wonderful. I grew up reading these books.
