I purchase this book each year for the past 15 years. I bought it for my children's classrooms and now for my great niece's classrooms.

Mr. Hatch gets a surprise that changes his whole outlook on life. He is a changed man until he discovers that the gift was a mistake. Mr. Hatch returns to his olds ways of thinking and acting until he is saved by those that were touched by his good nature. I read this story during a staff meeting and on several classroom visits. I have used it as gifts for staff and family members. It has been added to my "Principal's Favorites" book basket.

I just heard this book for the first time in a storytelling class. Mr. Hatch's life was truly changed by the delivery of a package. Kids will love this book.

Mr. Hatch lives a sad and lonely life. He follows his sad routine, day after day, not talking to anyone and generally keeping to himself. One day he receives a surprise package that cheers him up so much that he shares his excitement by helping others. He becomes part of the community. Near the ending, the situation is sad, but it ends on a joyful note. I loved it and I'm looking forward to buying it! Three cheers for Mr. Hatch and his friends!

Mr. Hatch is a reserved man who lives alone, has no friends, and keeps to himself. All that changes when he receives a heart-shaped box full of chocolates on Valentine's Day with a card that says 'Somebody loves you'. He has no idea who sent it to him, and since everyone in town is suspect, he suddenly begins interacting joyfully with everyone around him. A warm book that reaffirms what is most important: who you love and who loves you. This story will be cherished by children and read every Valentine's Day.
