Overview

Sophie Susana Stanski was born April 2, 1925, in Poznan, Poland. Sophie and her family endured the dictatorship under Hitler's armed forces, as well as Sophie's kidnapping by the Germans. Sophie spent five long years in slavery under the rule of a German family. She was rescued and liberated by the American allied forces in 1949, only to find her family behind the Iron Curtain. Too frightened to return to her homeland, Sophie obtained work at an American base in Simershausen, Germany. There, she met and fell in love with an American soldier who brought her to the United States, and then left her-devastated and frightened-in a new country with four children to raise alone. Sophie found herself sinking into a deep depression as she tried to maintain caring for her children, but losing at love and having to break her promises to her family back in Poland were almost more than she could bear. She tried to lean on God, but her depression and seclusion only kept her from letting in the only people who truly loved her: her family and friends. This is her story, of war, love, hope, and Someday a Blessing.

This is a one of a kind story, even though many have been written about WWII. Sophie's story of her life in Poland and Holland and then the distruction of Poland during the war. Bring to life the true tribalations of the Polish people. I love this true story of a alittle Polish girl with big dreams.

I haven't read this book, but just want to inform other readers that it is not by the same author as A Vow to Cherish and many other novels. This is a different author.

This is a very to the point read, I love the fact it does not flower the point of the story, Sophie is a true Hero in my eyes and will be to anyone who reads this book.

A great read on a topic which is intriguing. Holds your attention from the moment that you begin to read it. Sophie will touch your heart with her dreams which are the same as many young girls. The book contains historical information along with the story of a young girl's life struggles.

This book details the life of Sophie Stanski, a little girl born in Poznan Poland who lives through her abduction by the German Nazi's, five years of slave labor, marriage to an American GI, devasation in the United States. Sophie, through her strength and faith in God manages to raise her four children alone in a strange country with no family. This is her story of love, hope, war and 'Someday a Blessing'. You will love this read by her daughters, their first endeavor at writing.
