    Wonderful Historical Romance!

We all love the men in kilts, but what about their women? Somer’s Rising by Em Epe is a fascinating look back in history, focusing on the strength and courage of one woman and how she became a force to be reckoned with and loved! Somer was an outcast because of her birth to the McRaidy clan, but she was strong-willed, generous, had a gift for training valuable dogs, and shared love with Conner McRaidy, son of the clan chieftain, heir to his father’s power. When Conner’s father dies before giving his blessing for their wedding, politics, war, and a well-meaning king all stand to destroy their chance for happiness. With grit and determination, Somer fights to be with Conner, win the approval of the clan and prove she is worthy of being called a McRaidy. Will they ever accept her or will fate step in and take her away forever or will spirits of the great McRaidy leaders guide Somer to her true destiny? Will deceit and war end the McRaidy’s proud clan domination in spite of everything?

Em Epe has written not only a wonderful historical romance, but has put the focus on a very strong and capable woman who is resolved to triumph against the odds. I walked through the woods, felt Somer’s love for her dogs and her hidden pain at being an outcast. Her love for Conner was earthy and real.

Even if you never thought you were a historical romance kind of reader, Ms. Epe’s style and attention to the detail of each scene will pull you out of the twenty-first century and into the distant past! The pace is fast, the story is intriguing, I found my characters to root for and another author to watch!

I’d like to thank Em Epe for providing me with this review copy!
