Overview

The Batts family has arrived at a hotel in Los Angeles and everything is all set for Aunt Laura’s wedding weekend. Stella and Penny are going to be getting a new uncle, and a new cousin! Plus, they get to be flower girls, and wear fancy dresses, and walk down the aisle throwing rose petals. It’s going to be perfect--just the way Aunt Laura has imagined it. Just the way Stella has imagined it, too. But sometimes a wedding doesn’t happen the way anyone thinks it will--including the bride. Things are starting to go wrong, and Stella is worried that it’s all her fault!

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Annie Laura Smith
Stella Batts and her sister Jenny look forward to being flower girls throwing rose petals in their Aunt Laura’s wedding. Getting a new uncle and cousin will be nice, too. What could possibly go wrong with a wedding ceremony? Will Stella’s accidently damaging her aunt’s wedding dress stop the ceremony? Or will the decision to attend the ceremony by the mother of their new cousin impact the event? Delightful black and write illustrations complement the text as the girls embark on this wedding misadventure. The author shows the family dynamics well in the story. This book is number six in the “Stella Batts Series” which includes: Pardon Me; Needs a New Name; Case of the Meanies; Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow; and Who’s in Charge. None of Your Beeswax will be released in November. Something Blue is an excellent choice for early readers. They will find the characters enjoyable, and the story an easy and engaging read. Reviewer: Annie Laura Smith; Ages 7 to 9.
