Overview

--One of Amazon's selections for Best Gay Books of 2011 and soon to be a movie from the makers of Judas Kiss.--

Love, like everything in the universe, cannot be destroyed. But over time it can change.

The hot Texas nights were lonely for Ben before his heart began beating to the rhythm of two words; Tim Wyman. By all appearances, Tim had the perfect body and ideal life, but when a not-so-accidental collision brings them together, Ben discovers that the truth is rarely so simple. If winning Tim's heart was an impossible quest, keeping it would prove even harder as family, society, and emotion threaten to tear them apart.

Something Like Summer is a love story spanning a decade and beyond as two boys discover what it means to be friends, lovers, and sometimes even enemies.

The Seasons Series:
Book 1: Something Like Summer
Book 2: Something Like Winter
Book 3: Something Like Autumn
Book 4: Something Like Spring
---

Praise from Queer Magazine Online: "Due to Jay's easy, understandable style, I was led through the happy times and the sad ones, sometimes by gently holding his hand and in others by gripping it tightly, but what a ride. 'Something Like Summer' not only has lots of passion, humor, angst, and twists and turns, it also takes an in depth look at how the choices we make in life affect not only ourselves, but everyone around us.

Five stars from ALPHA reader: "Jay Bell has written one of the most heart-felt and sincere M/M romances I have ever encountered. This is a love story that spans twelve years - a story all about getting a second chance with 'the one that got away'."

    Inspired

This was he first book i've read by Jay Bell and boy was I impressed. This isnt just a story, its a journey that Bell expertly carries us on, with Highs and lows, Sorrow and Euphoria with a good mix of humour thrown in to boot. The characters have great depth, and you cant help but feel part of the story. I read this book in 2 sittings, and at an impressive 737 pages, this was a great indication of how you get drawn into the story and dont want to put it down. The pacing of the story is what keeps you turning the pages.

Dont be put off by the low price of this book, it in no way reflects the content. Ive read books 3 times the price that dont even come close.

    Amazing and Highly Recommend!

I don't recommend this book to someone who is looking for a quick and easy read to help them escape from daily life. This is Literature in every since of the word. While you do escape to another world, it's an emotional ride that often has you screaming at the character to do something else... If I had to compare it to another auther in any way so that you could pick up the depth of this book, I'd say Nicholas Sparks though this auther doesn't try to make human emotions and relationships simple. Though I love Nicholas Sparks, I can't help but find the realness of Jay Bell refreshing if not heartbreaking in it's trueth... I cried and beat my pillow at the sufferings of my characters. I laughed and cheered as they over came... The book became a person to me and those of you who truely read because they love it will understand this. Just as people touch our lives, something we read can irrevocably change us and make us strive for something we never even knew we wanted to until shown.

    Love love love.

I was not really interesting in gay romance novels, however having come across and reading the reviews I decided to give it a shot, and I am glad I did. The main concern that I was having when I first stared reading it, was it was just going to be a erotic sex book, but It wasn't. It truly was a love story, with a little ups, and a lot of down. By the end I was crying like a baby, by sadness and happiness. This has been the first book, In a LONG time, that had me in tears. And when the book ended, I was shocked that I read the whole book in two days. READ IT!!!!! I am telling you!!!!

    A great young romantic read

I flew through the 737 pages... I am usually a very slow reader, but I couldn't put this book down.

Give it a shot; it's worth it.

4.5 stars. Great story. Had me hooked from the very begining. Way worth the money too. It's definitely one of my favorite published gay novels. Only downside: I felt as if the end was rushed and much prefered reading them as teens, but the last part was more of preference. Overall: you shouldn't miss this; way worth it, trust me.

    So good.

Excellent, for what it is. I am not big on romance stories, but this one waa good. I like that it presents gay relationships as based on emotion instead of the usual vein of story telling that presents the lifestyle as purely sexual.

Honest, believable and unforced, credible twists of the story line. The characters are well-developed and more than likable. Mr. Bell eschews the over-abundance of eroticism that most romance writers adopt for a more invigorating and inviting brand of storytelling.

    I recommend this novel highly.

I haven't read a book in  a while and I wanted a quick escape from my own reality. This was the perfect escape. I fell in love with Tim just as quickly as Ben did. I felt the heartbreak, the relief, the happiness of new love... I highly recommend this book! I already started the second one, Something LIke Winter.

    Wonderful story.

I really wanted the book to end differently. However, the writting style is great and drama is intense. I was just rooting for a different character, and can appreciate the author ending story ending the way he did.

    ABSOLUTELY PERFECT

This book made me laugh, giggle, cry, get angry, curl up in the fetal position and cry, cry from joy, cry out of anger and hatred, experience a love so pure (three times ove [counting the companion stories]), and just flat out feel thankful and loved for everything that I have. But not everybody is an empathic reader, so maybe it'snot exactly your cup of tea, I suggest taking a few sips, at least, maybe overlooking the racier parts of the story, if you're a little prude, but either way, this book was still ABSOLUTELY PERFECT

You'll read it more than once...

I bought this book over a year ago and it honestly helped me get through a trying situation in my life. Randomly, I started reading it again recently, and honest to God realized that it was a year and two days later...going through an even more difficult situation. Yet again, it has helped me out. My point is this isn't just a book that you'll read and forget about. It's as if you are a part of the story yourself. You will go through the emotions with and relate to Ben. It also gets better the more you read it...even though you already know what is going to happen. I would reccomend this to anyone who needs a little uplifting, hope, or even just a great read. Buy this book you will never regret it...or forget it for that matter.
