Overview

Sometimes I'm Bigger Than My Big Brother is written from the point of view of Samantha, a young girl growing up in the shadow of an older brother with both Autism and Epilepsy. Learning that although she is younger than him and shorter than him, he still looks to her for guidance even though she is only four. She courageously faces the very scary seizures and bravely tells them to go away. She dances, sings, and hugs away his anger when he is frustrated and tickles him with butterfly kisses when he is sad. Samantha learns what it means to be a BIG little sister and shares her experiences so that you will understand what it is like having a big brother who isn't really "big" at all.

About the Author

Billie Ann Doner is the mother of two children, a grown son with special needs and a neurotypical daughter who is just moving out on her own. Billie is a registered nurse who worked in both critical care and home health before becoming a full-time caregiver to her son. When she can, when her son's health permits, she works for her family's manufacturing business, Samco Polishing Inc., as the Safety Officer/Industrial Nurse teaching safety classes and keeping up with OSHA standards.

Billie loves to write poetry, when the mood strikes her, and her poem JUST BEYOND REACH, written about the anguish of a mother watching helplessly as her child suffers Epileptic seizures, has been published in two books and numerous newsletters/publications. She recently published her first children's book, Bun-Bun's Big Adventure available on Amazon in paperback and eBook.

Way too wordy for Twitter, Billie has taken her Facebook posts to the extreme, length that is, and is now venturing into the world of self publication.

Billie's son Casey, born in 1986 with Autism and a severe form of Epilepsy, is the inspiration for her Facebook blog, Conversations with Casey, where she writes about daily life as a caregiver. Insightful, humorous and often inspirational, Billie finds joyful moments in even the most mundane of tasks and she shares those moments through photos, videos, and her Conversations with Casey.
