Overview

Cage York has to choose between a love of the game and a love of the girl in this sultry Sea Breeze novel from New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines.

Cage York finally has everything he ever wanted.

And Eva is at the very top of that list—the perfect girl with a temper as hot as her fabulously flawless body. But for Cage, a baseball scholarship has always been a close second. So when Cage finally gets his chance, he and Eva must endure a long distance relationship—and all the dangerous temptations that come with it. Temptations that former bad boy Cage York may not be able to escape.

Then after receiving some illicit photos that show Cage has been behaving badly—very badly—Eva finds solace in the comforting arms of her insanely attractive neighbor Jeremy, who vows that he will take care of Eva in ways Cage never could. It’s an offer that may be too good for Eva to turn down.

Torn between his baseball dream and the girl of this dreams, Cage must prove he’s worthy of Eva’s love, or risk losing her to Jeremy forever.

Small-town girl Eva and bad-boy Cage (previously seen in While It Lasts) make a steamy duo in this addition to Glines’s Sea Breeze series, which offers little unexpected, but plenty of explicit sex, yearning, and misconstrued signals. Eva has already been through a lot, having lost both her mother and her first serious boyfriend, Josh. When she meets Cage, a talented baseball player with a wild side, she’s surprised that she falls so hard for him, and so fast. She’s sure Cage is the one for her, until her father is diagnosed with terminal cancer, and Cage, away at college on a baseball scholarship, turns up in compromising photos. Devastated, Eva finds comfort with Josh’s twin brother, Jeremy, even as Cage vows to win her back. It’s clear from the beginning where this relationship is headed; the writing is often overdramatized and clichéd, the many sex scenes full of flicked nipples, invading tongues, and wet panties. It’ll fit the bill for those looking for a quick, raunchy read, but anyone seeking a story with real legs should look elsewhere. Ages 16–up. Agent: Jane Dystel, Dystel & Goderich Literary Management. Gr 10 Up—Eva Brooks and Cage York are living together in Sea Breeze, Alabama, when Cage finds out he's been awarded a baseball scholarship. The catch? The scholarship is to Hill State in Tennessee. A future in baseball is Cage's dream come true, but shortly before the two leave Sea Breeze, Eva finds out her father is sick and may not have long to live. Together they decide it's best for Cage to go ahead to Tennessee. The two struggle to maintain their long distance relationship, but when Cage's roommate puts him in some awkward situations and sends Eva deceptive texts and videos, their love is soon on the rocks. She turns to her handsome neighbor for comfort, but Cage hopes to win her back. Fans of the series and of the author's previous books won't be disappointed with this melodramatic and standalone novel entry. I picked up this book with a tissue and some ice cream as was recommended, Boy oh Boy did it just melt my heart & all my ice cream!

There is something about characters who possess depth and challenges that calls to me. I love reading about those kinds of people. People who havent had it easy but never fail to give up.
Abbi Glines gives us those kinds of people in every book she pens! I LOVE LOVE LOVE cage!!!
My only complaint would be the shortness of the book (but i mean come on, who wouldnt want more cage?!?) but the story was well rounded and perfectly written - Ms. Glines never disappoints! If you havent picked up the Sea Breeze Series you need to do so ASAP. Better yet, pick up ALL Abbi Glines' stories and you wont come out of your room for days!

    Wow

I love cage and eva... i cried a few times. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a true love story. I did think the cost was pretty high for how short the book was... keep it real abbi. I wish you would record the song from this book like your other book. Cant wait for the next book about seabreeze.

Love the story, hate the typos.

I loved the story, but I wish it was longer. Also, if I'm going to pay nine dollars for a book, I expect it to have as few typos and grammatical errors as possible. This book had multiple errors on each page. I mean, it was ridiculous, like the editor was an eighth grader or something. That's the only reason I didn't give the book five stars.

Let me start by saying I have devoured every book by Abbi Glines

Let me start by saying I have devoured every book by Abbi Glines & she NEVER disappoints. Cage York is one of my top 5 book boyfriends- dear Lord, I love him. - cocky, hot, sexy, bad boy with a dirty mouth. He is completely irresistible. This book picks up right where While it Lasts left off. Cage and Eva are in the throes of their budding relationship, prepping for a big move for them both to TN. A major complication arises and Eva must stay behind to tend to her father while encouraging Cage to follow his dream to play baseball. Here is where things get tricky for them and their relationship is put through the proverbial wringer. My heart ached for both of them. There were times where I wanted to scream but at the same time couldn’t not stop reading. I am hopeless romantic and love stories about true love – that gut wrenching all consuming love. Eva and Cage and have that but can they survive all the external forces tearing them apart. This is must read for everyone and will have you hooked on all the delicious men in the Abbi Glines book family – but by far Cage is it!!!

Not worth $8.00. Mostly fluff and sex. I'm afraid my favorite author has crossed over to to the dark side.

From the minute I started reading Sometimes It Lasts, I was hook

From the minute I started reading Sometimes It Lasts, I was hooked. Cage and Eva have certainly had to deal with some pretty difficult challenges. One thing is clear though, they love each other. In this book, they face a new changes in their lives and they have to figure out how to make their relationship work.

I can never get enough of Cage York. I love all of Glines' guys, but there is something about Cage that's just gotten to me from the moment I met him in Because of Low. In some ways, Eva has changed Cage, but for the better. He's no longer the womanizing player he once was. He's let Eva into his heart and he won't ever let her go. In this book, I felt like Cage really stepped up. He's matured a lot. Of course, he does get put into some situations that made me shake my head, but he loves Eva and nothing will get in the way of that. I fell in love with Cage even more in this book.

You know, Eva was a tough character for me to warm up to in While It Lasts. Eventually, I did really like her, but she can be guarded. I understand her better now and I did like her in this book too. However, there were times I got a bit frustrated with her. Granted, I sympathized with her at the same time. She's had to go home to take care of her sick father, while Cage is off pursuing his dreams. It takes a lot of trust and faith in a relationship to manage being away from one another. Their relationship gets tested and Eva just couldn't deal with it. It hurt me that she didn't have faith in Cage and their love. But, Cage wouldn't back down. He made changes in his own life, so he could be with her and help her after her dad passes.  He worked hard to prove to Eva that she was his and always would be.

I loved seeing all of the Sea Breeze gang again. They're all happy and moving forward in their lives. It makes me happy seeing what everyone is up to. I still want a book for Dewayne. He makes me laugh. The stand out supporting character in this book for me was Jeremy. He's always been someone that Eva could rely on. Jeremy steps up for her once again in this book. I've always liked him, but in this book I wanted to know him even more. I think he needs his own book. *winks*

Overall, I adored Sometimes It Lasts! It took me through a whole range of emotions. I was teary, giddy, anxious, and ultimately really happy with how things worked out. Although things may be settled for Cage and Eva, I have no doubt we'll get to see more of them in the future. I'd miss his dirty mouth too much if we didn't! If you haven't started the Sea Breeze series yet, you must fix that error now!

Book 5 in the Sea Breeze Series by Abbi Glines is brilliant as usual! Sometimes It Lasts is the continuation of Eva & Cage’s story. The prologue makes you think about what on earth could have gone so wrong to make Eva turn to Jeremy. I wasn’t sure I liked knowing that at the beginning, but it definitely got my attention and made me keep reading and I wasn’t disappointed. Make sure you read the entire series from the beginning so that you know all of the characters and how they are all intertwined. Sea Breeze is an amazing series and you will NOT be disappointed!! ~Kendra with For the Love of Books

    AWESOME!

First off, While it Last was the first book I read of Abbi Glines. I was hooked. Therefore I purchased the other Sea Breeze books. I was disappointed. I have to say that no other books from Abbi Glines compares to Cage and Eva's story. READ WHILE IT LASTS FIRST! I loved EVA because she was a strong level head person, unlike the other female characters who just seemed real naive. She had gone through so much already and was level headed enough to understand the consequences of entering a relationship with Cage. Despite everything they get together and fall in love. Cage, or poor Cage. We hear so much about bad boy with issues of never feeling they are worthy enough. Eva makes him feel that and makes him feel more of a man than he ever has.
I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited to hear she was coming out with a sequel. I was shocked actually. I read the Prologue and already was thinking " Oh Cage York what have you done!" I loved everything about the second book.
For those you have read Abbi Glines book, yes she is very descriptive about the love making, however I didn't think this was as descriptive as the others. I loved the ending and how you just knew they were really going to make it cause Sometimes It Lasts.

The path to hapiness is only possible when we find love in the middle. And Cage did it while he fought for his dream. ( so if you are the kind of person who don't use to follow your dreams you have one more reason to start doing it!) However, this dream changed the second he put his eyes on Eva. But his dream is passing through a nightmare and to protect him from all her shouts and pain she is abble to do everything! Even push him away when she needs him the most. And I could be here all day telling you a story that I simply loved! If I didn't want you to read and love it like I did. So... Sometimes we're too scary to fight for what we want... Sometimes we say things we don't feel but this book deserves your time and attention because sometimes love is enough to sleep all over that.
Take a chance! He/She may not be your Always but I'm sure it'll be great While It Lasts. Because Sometimes It Lasts forever.

Ripped my heart out, but it hurt so good.
I absolutely could not wait to get my hands on this book.  Cage and Eva are my favorite Sea Breeze couple and I was ecstatic and all fangirling when I found out we were going to get another book with Cage in it.  OMG  - did Abbi Glines ever deliver big time with Sometimes it Lasts.  I don't know where to begin.  I knew going into this book it wasn't going to be an easy read from the synopsis, but I did not know it was going to RIP my poor little emotional heart out.......get ready for some tissues girls, because you are going to need them, and whatever else brings you comfort....then hold on and get ready for the ride. I kid you not, I swooned - I mean who wouldn't over Cage - I smiled as we got to see all the rest of the Sea Breeze gang that we have come to know and love, I got all hot and bothered when Cage talked dirty to Eva and did other things, then I cried and was a complete wreck for a while, both for Cage and for Eva.  Next, I put on my cheerleader cap and was mentally and emotionally shaking my pompoms for Team Cage, then got all hot and bothered with Cage's dirty talk and one exceptionally hot scene, and then finally sighed, relaxed, and and smiled, completely satiated about 3:00 a.m. when I finished the book - whew (I am pausing to breathe now).

Seriously, Cage York stole my heart in While it Lasts, and he sealed it and took away the key, completely branding it as his in Sometimes it Lasts.  Warning - Do not do try at home:  I must make a little confession to you all.  In the middle of my distress, when I couldn't bear it anymore, fearing I might not live until I got to the ending and  in a moment of complete weakness, I had to go to the back of the book to see what happens.  I am such a wuss.  Now for me, that is okay, because I still enjoyed the book just as much.  In fact, I'll probably end up reading it again - maybe 2 or 3 times, and will still love it as much as I did the first time.  I mean, I've read the Vincent Boys and Vincent Brothers like four times already.  So I want to bring you words of comfort and encouragement, as I put my cheerleader cap on for all of you who haven't read it yet....I am shaking my pompoms now and cheering......You will survive......you can do it.......just hold on.......the ending is worth the wait, it's just getting through the in between that is the difficult part, but it hurts so good.  I love this book, and the entire Sea Breeze series.  I can't wait for Misbehaving (Sea Breeze #6), which is Jason Stone's story, to come out in December.  I really hope Dewayne gets a story to, and  I would love Preston and Amanda to get a second book.  Okay, time to stop now.  If you haven't read While it Lasts and Sometimes it Lasts, trust me, you'll want to.
