Hope Love has a very ironic name in her mind but when you really delve into her story you find out how appropriate it really is for her. Hope's mom wasn't really a mom, she was bi-polar and would leave Hope alone for several days then bring home the next guy du jour. This world and the things that happen to Hope as a child cause her to craft very strong walls to keep everyone at a distance. Enter Mason Patel, new guy at school and someone that impacts Hope in a way she has never felt. Mason is dealing with his own issues after the death of his father and a mother who is taking care of them but not really dealing with her own hurt. We get to join Hope and Mason on a journey of discovery with each other as they find ways to heal the hurts and realize that love is possible. I was truly surprised by this book and loved the depth of all the characters which allowed for really honest interactions – I could picture someone really going through what they were dealing with which made me really glad I found Cheryl McIntyre's work.

I love the New Adult genre and spend most of my reading time on this shelf. Beautiful Disaster, Fifty Shades, Hopeless, Real, Find You in the Dark are among my favorites, but the one that's the stuck with me the most - in addition to its equally awesome companion novel, Before Now, is SOMETIMES NEVER. Cheryl's McIntyre's voice is pitch perfect NA. Her characters are so real you can feel them! Yes, they're screwed up, but they move forward ... up, and I get to be a part of it! Like the main character's name indicate: There's Hope! I felt like I was there with the characters. It was hard to put the book down when it was time to go to bed! Why did those 400 and some-odd pages seem so few???

I read Sometimes Never in the void after Hopeless. I was sucked in within the first few pages, always needing to know more about the characters: Hope herself, Mason, Park—every one of the interesting people in her life. This novel has everything. It makes me so excited when novels build deep, believable characters, and at the same time manage to never waver from the ultimate goal: Happiness!! Cheryl made me smile, laugh, cry, and root for life!

Yes. Sometimes Never is an awesome New Adult novel. I'm going to be on the look-out for Cheryl's next novel, that's for sure. I can recommend this novel to anybody who loves real life and a steaming hot romance.
