Mitford fans finally get their wish: It's been five years since the last Father Tim novel and a full decade since there has been a Jan Karon fiction set in Mitford. That exceedingly long pause ends with Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good and the return of the gentle cleric to his Irish roots. Soon after his arrival, it becomes apparent that the entire village seems to be in upheaval or uproar. As Father Tim himself anguishes over his loss of vocation, others lose their bearings in the throes of romance, impulses of revenge, or a sense of pervasive moral crisis. Apparently, Karon's talent for creating homey ensemble novels has not dwindled in her long time away from Mitford; this new installment qualifies as an ideal read for anyone who likes being with people.
