Song Cinema

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Lisa Zhito
Fans of '80-style Top 40 pop have flocked to Mark Schultz, and no wonder: His snappy pop-rock compositions hearken back to melodic hit makers of that decade like Mr. Mister and Mike + the Mechanics. Because he employs such tricks as the soaring crescendo, layered harmonies, and radio-friendly melodies, it's easy to dismiss Schultz as stuck in a time warp. But Schultz's Christian lyrics show depth, and his performance is full of sincerity. Song Cinema has plenty of such nice moments; especially effective are the simple ballads: "Think of Me," with guest vocalist Rachael Lampa, and "The Holy One," which features Chris Rice, are two lovely compositions looking at friendship....

For up-tempo numbers, "Faith, Hope & Love" is a soulful take on the same topic, while a horn section revs up "Back to You." There's plenty of retro intensity, however, especially on the opening track, "When the Mountains Fall," and Schultz's remake of the Mr. Mister hit "Kyrie." For Schultz's rapidly growing fan club, Song Cinema is bound to be another hit.

    He does it again!!!

I bought this album a while after i already owned Stories and Songs and i was equally impressed. His songs are just beautiful with so much meaning. I especially love "Back in His Arms Again", "Holy One", and "Time of my Life."
