Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"Derek Barker doesn't just list the songs, he also gives us their history and Dylan's ties to them."  —Los Angeles Times
Los Angeles Times
Derek Barker doesn't just list the songs, he also gives us their history and Dylan's ties to them.
Library Journal

This meticulously researched book offers documentation of songs Dylan performed but did not write himself. Dylan specialist Barker (Isis: A Bob Dylan Anthology) offers a revelatory introduction about Dylan's search for creative inspiration in the late 1980s while teaming with The Grateful Dead. The expansive list that follows is organized alphabetically by song title, while original author attribution appears in parentheses. Each multiparagraph entry includes Dylan's first known performance of the song, its alternate titles, appearance on albums or bootlegs, and general song history. Whenever possible, concert ephemera or songwriter photos appear beside related entries.
