Billy Whitlow, one time "Don of Doo Wop", has survived his days of drink, drugs and groupies, settling now into a more peaceful life centred on his blossoming seventeen year old daughter Bex. Revising for her 'A' Levels, Bex visits Billy one Easter but the longed-for simplicity of father-daughter happiness is shattered one night in a local club.

Billy's world becomes one of questions; Why is his daughter in a drug induced coma? Who put her in that state? How in the name of Hell is he going to make them pay?

Songs of Bliss is a real page turner, a real thriller. Here are some of the comments made be early readers:

Well, I’ve finished the book and very much enjoyed it. I think you have written a really good first novel – you have a great turn of phrase: “The jogging-bottom girls are done up to the nines” - which often made me smile and occasionally, laugh out loud. Always a good sign.
Lorna Howarth, Editor of Resurgence & founder of The Write Stuff

I like stories where the hero is flawed and Billy certainly fills that bill. His flaws are what make him human and sympathetic, though, so it works well here. Love the dialogue. Makes this a good read.

Great opening paragraph is followed by some wonderful touching prose. This is a fantastic piece of work and I would happily buy a copy of this.
Carl Ashmore, commenting on Authonomy

Absorbed in this from the first lines. Intelligent writing and thoughtful attention to the characters and plot make this a highly recommended read
Margaret Antony, commenting on Authonomy

This has a very professional touch. I think your characters and the humour they bring to this are phenomenal. This is very cleverly and intelligently structured and layered, the succession of acts is so good. I – REALLY – LIKE – THIS – BOOK.
Famlavan, commenting on Authonomy

Songs of Bliss gripped me from the start - I had to read right to the end. Loved the humour. Impressed by the surprising empathy that I felt for rather - on the face of it - unlikeable characters. Look forward to seeing it in print.

This is the whole package.....I love the cover and was intrigued by the title. Fantastic work. Email me when you're published so I know when I can buy a copy.

Meet the Author

Check out video's of many of my stories for free at:youtube.com/user/CliveGilson?feature=watchFirst things first - why are all of my stories free to download as eBooks?I've thought long and hard about this... and the conclusion I've come to is that it's all about presence.Despite some years of success in competition and with magazines and online publishers, I've still got a pile of rejections from the mainstream industry. My stories and books have good reviews and have received positive editorial for years now, all of which leads me to think that our industry is a little skewed at the moment. So, rather than flog a dead horse I've decided to go online, to resurrect good old Dickensian serialization, and to make my stories absolutely free across as many platforms and sites as I can. By concentrating on creating presence and by building a download audience, I'll find a way to make a living out of all this imagination and graft. You can, of course, still buy print versions of my books... just check out the links on the relevant book pages (cpibookdelivery.com).As for me... I've been writing since age 11 and had various shorts and pieces of poetry published over the years. I started writing longer fiction a few years ago and have even set up my own small publishing company in collaboration with other writers at The Write Factor in the hope of encouraging others to be confident about self-publishing and all of the "stuff" that goes with that route to getting your work out there.Company data at dancingpigmedia.comI have some experience in the industry generally, having worked as a journalist and contributor to various magazines and newspapers, although I'm concentrating on fiction right now.I'm looking forward to getting new work up for you all in the coming months and hopefully we'll get chance to share work, comments, feedback and all that good stuff...Cheers for now,Clive
