All Music Guide - Gregory McIntosh
Songs of Inspiration collects several of the early gospel songs of the Oak Ridge Boys before the group transformed into the country-pop for which they would later become famous. For those looking for "Elvira" or "Trying to Love Two Women," MCA's excellent 20th Century Masters -- The Millennium Collection would be the best bet, but for a look at the Oak Ridge Boys' early gospel and country-gospel sounds, Songs of Inspiration is a good place to start. The only downfall, as with many of the Park South label's releases, is that the sound quality is mediocre throughout.
