About the Author

Chris Butler is the Lead Pastor at Chicago Embassy Church in Chicago, IL.

Chris is a husband, a father, and a business owner. As founder and CEO of Citizen Consulting Group, a public engagement consulting firm, Chris works with organizations to engage local communities in important conversations that impact issues of education and political reform. The core value of Chris' firm is really the core value of Chris' life..."We believe that working together everyday people can change the world".

In addition to pastoring, Chris recently founded the Chicago Peace Campaign to organize churches and other faith-based institutions to build peace networks in local communities. This 2009-2010 effort was effective in driving down violent incidents in some of the most difficult communities in Chicago. Chris is also a founder and former Executive Director of Parent Power Chicago, an organization dedicated to helping parents help their children by connecting them to meaningful resources, relationships and information. In his role at PPC Chris establish the Summer Program Fair where parents from across the city can access summer programing for their students and the Chicago School Fair, a first of it's kind event featuring ALL of Chicago's school options regardless of governance model (traditional public, charter, catholic and independent).

Chris has a Bachelors Degree in Civic and Political Engagement from Northeastern Illinois University. He has committed his life to seeing lives and communities transformed by the Gospel of Jesus and organized approached to solving problems together. Chris lives in the Kenwood community with his wife, Aziza and their three children.
