Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Have you ever heard of a shy mouse? Well, if you haven't, you will find one here. Sophie is so shy she is afraid of the bookmobile librarian and does her grocery shopping when she knows the least amount of people will be in the store. For the most part, her life consists of cleaning her already spotless house and observing the world outside of her window. It isn't until the dance studio opens across the street that Sophie begins to step outside of her fears, causing her to do things she never would dare to do before. What starts out as dancing by herself in her living room to the music that wafts over from the studio, soon leads a dance partner, Lou, who comes knocking on her door. This delightful book with its colorful illustrations shows us what can happen when we step out of our shells and let our passions lead us in new directions. This "Reading Rainbow" selection is a nice addition to any collection. 2001, Aladdin, $6.99. Ages 5 to 7. Reviewer:Sheree Van Vreede
