I learned of this book and tried the SOS Diet. Before, I was on medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol with the threat of medication for Type II diabetes. Having watched my mother slowly die from kidney failure, diabetes and congestive heart failure, I reluctantly was willing to try anything to NOT BE HER. Since on this diet, I have lost 26 lbs., reduced my total cholesterol from 205 to 145 and my glucose is normal range. This is almost too easy - Love the SOS Diet book!

All my life I was tuned in to that strongest of human taste sensations - SWEET. My family ate that way, and all my friends ate that way. For more than half my life I staunchly vowed that whole wheat bread would NEVER pass my teeth. Then by chance I met Dr. Jim Surrell. Meet the Author

James A. Surrell, M.D. is a board-certified colorectal surgeon and holds fellowship status in the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He devoted 14 years to formal education with 4 years of pre-med, 4 years of medical school, 5 years of general surgery residency and one year of colorectal surgery fellowship… (Whew)! He has been a practicing colorectal surgeon for the past 20 plus years. Dr. Surrell has authored many articles in various journals on topics related to his specialty of colorectal surgery and digestive health.

He has a special interest in nutrition and dietary weight loss programs. As Director of the Digestive Health Institute, his practice is focused on digestive health, including nutrition, dietary weight management and colorectal cancer screening and prevention. He is known in his large practice for his ability to communicate effectively with his patients, and he goes to great lengths not to speak “doctor talk” to his patients.

“Doc” or Jim (as he prefers to be called) is also a much sought-after speaker and speaks frequently to local, regional, and national public and professional groups. He blends a significant amount of humor into his many talks and is generally available to speak to nearly any group with an interest in learning more about various topics, including: diet and weight loss, nutrition, cancer prevention, and “Healthy Lifestyle Choices”. He also appears frequently on his local “Ask the Doctors” TV program. Here is your author’s favorite quote:

    This is such a GREAT tool to a new you!

    This is such an amazing book! So easy to understand and follow. It is really not a diet - a few adjustments to the way you look at food and a whole new you. Not just slimmer, but healthier. My cholesterol dropped. Doc is amazing!
