Overview

Sunny McDonald and her vampire boyfriend, Magnus, are on the run-accused of treason and wanted alive...or undead. And her twin is the slayer sent to track them down.

Rayne would do anything to save her twin sister, Sunny, from the Vampire Consortium dictator who wants her dead. Instead, she's been commissioned by Slayer Inc. to find Sunny and Magnus and deliver them to the Consortium...which Rayne knows means certain death. She also knows that if she and her boyfriend, Jareth, disobey orders, they are signing not only their own death warrants, but also those of every vampire in the Blood Coven.

As a rival slayer with a personal vendetta moves in, Rayne and Jareth must do something to stop her. So they embark on their most dangerous journey yet, deep beneath the streets of New York City and through the Gates of the Underworld. But when a greedy god demands the ultimate sacrifice, will Rayne be forced to choose between her sister...and the vampire she loves?

Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Grace Enriquez
Slayer Rayne McDonald is good at tracking and killing vampires whose rogue behavior threatens the Vampire Consortium's delicate balance of power. But this time the Consortium leader, Pyrus, puts a hit on the one person Rayne would do anything for: her twin sister, Sunny. With her boyfriend, Jareth, Rayne defies Pyrus's orders, first venturing deep into the forgotten underground tunnels of New York City and then through the ominous gates to the Underworld to save Sunny and her boyfriend, Magnus. Failure means not only that Sunny and Magnus will perish, but also that she, Jareth, and the entire Blood Coven will be slain. Success, on the other hand, may call for a sacrifice that destroys everything Rayne has. Part Twilight, part Buffy the Vampire Slayer, part Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the latest volume in the Blood Coven series continues the fast-paced adventures of the spunky, supernatural McDonald twins. Mancusi's attempts to round out the main cast of characters fall short, and the scant context for Rayne's relationship with Jareth makes the dialogue between them feel forced, especially for series newcomers. Additionally, the protagonists articulate the same unabating sense of self-sacrifice that grows quite tiresome in other recent fantasy novels. What keeps the novel afloat is Mancusi's eagerness to entertain. Told in a veritable teen voice and loaded with contemporary pop culture references, Soul Bound sustains the lighthearted fun that marks its series companions. Fans will be glad to know the McDonald twins are back. Reviewer: Grace Enriquez

    The Best so far....

What do I think??? umm Well... only that it was the most incredible book in the series. I just did not have any ideas that made any sense on how she was going to be able to save both. That twist was completely unexpected and complete incredible. I absolutely can not wait for the next book. The remake of a love story it's every readers dream and I can't believe she is making it come true. Absolutely one of the Best writer in life. =)

I love the story line. I love how we explore more into Rayne. We learn so much about our favorite twins and their family background. You must read this book and you must sit with ice cream because it makes you weep. I love how your alive and kicking with rayne then roaming dirty hungry in new york city. Who knew that there was 2 underworlds! Oh make sure you watch dante's inferno or you might not get a few things. So stop looking at the reviews and pick the book up!!!!!

In Soul Bound, Sunny and Magnus are on the run. They are wanted

In Soul Bound, Sunny and Magnus are on the run. They are wanted for treason. Rayne is sent on a mission to capture Sunny and Magnus and deliver them to Slayer Inc. Mari does a wonderful job of showing that Rayne and Sunny still love each other, even though Rayne is supposed to hunt her sister and her vampire boyfriend. From the second you pick up Soul Bound, you are instantly taken into the action. When you get to the point where things are really intense, you won't want to put it down, I know I didn't.
