The Soul Of The Indianby Charles Eastman
Long before I ever heard of Christ, or saw a white man, I had learned from an untutored woman the essence of morality. With the help of dear Nature herself, she taught me things simple but of mighty import. I knew God. I perceived what goodness is. I saw and loved what is really beautiful. Civilization has not taught me anything better!

This was my first look into discovering the unadulterated Native American identity. It's words are very insightful and have stayed with me since the first time I read it 11 years ago. I absolutely love it.
This is one of those books that can make a dedicated reader question many things that are considered standard. Its gives great insight into the minds and ways of native americans. from spirits to christ this books hits it all. I really enjoyed the part of the book that focuses on the ways of the white man. Overall it is a good read, and will make you think.
