Overview

New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks walks the sizzling knife-edge between danger and desire as one woman with a killer in her shadow finds protective rapture with the two men with a need to save her...

The hottest thing about a man in uniform is imagining him out of it. For gorgeous Jessie Callahan this was all part of the ritual—a flirty little game indulged in with the two sexy-as-sin detectives she always saw at the same bar with the same naughty little glint in their eyes. Then one night, the game changed. Rick and Tru took it one step further and made a tantalizing proposition. To their surprise, Jessie said yes. To both of them.

It was a night of total abandon none of them would ever forget. But with it, a risk none of them could have imagined. Because when Jessie suddenly becomes the target of a serial killer, the game changes once again. And Jessie’s two detectives will risk everything to have her back in their arms—and in their bed...

Although this story is 130 pages, it has a womans lifes strugles, tragity, lust and heart warming love. Maya,s last novella ( Colters) was such a dissapointment for me, I was hesatent to purchase this one. I'm happy I did. Although the story is short, it is worth $3.99 I paid. Maya is back!

"Death City. The one place where people like us actually belong." I said, turning to face Peytan. "I feel like I've been here before." She said thoughtfully, brow furrowed in thought. "How about you ponder this in the morning, after we find food and a place to sleep?" I suggested, looking at the big building in front of us. "The Death Weapon-Meister Academy. Or more commonly known as the DWMA." Peytan recited. I looked at her, cocking an eyebrow in confusion. "Why don't we stay there for the night? Then in the morning, we leave while everyone's coming in." She suggested. I sighed, looking down at my sand-covered clothes. I needed to wash them, before they got too dirty. "Someone's bound to notice two girls, covered in sand, sneaking out of the school." I said, brushing sand out of my hair. "Well, Little Miss Smartass. I don't see you handing out any better ideas now, do I?" She snapped back. And that is how I got stuck climbing one of the schools towers. (Why did a school need a tower, I had no clue.) 'There's only one soul up there.' I thought, sending it to Peytan's head. 'Ok! Nothing we can't handle!' She chirped back. The window was open, oddly enough, and I pushed myself through it, landing gracefully on my feet. "Wait." I said, seeing three people. I sent out my soul sensing and only got one soul. "Why don't you two have a soul!" I shouted, pointing to the one with blue skin and the one dressed up like a cartoon grim reaper. The third, who was covered in stitches, went immediately after me. I pulled out Peytan, and threw her up into the air. Peytan transformed quickly and hopped down behind him, thrusting her sword into his arm. I quickly encased the others in water. "Water prison!" I shouted, squeezing my hand shut. "Freeze!" The water prison froze, and the two inside stsrted to turn blue. Then the prison exploded. "Marie!" The grim reaper yelled, picking me up by the back of my sweater. "How do you know my name?!" I shouted, twisting free of his grip. The blue one grabbed my arms, holding me back. Stitches had Peytan pinned down as well. "There's something you need to know." The grim reaper started to say. •Authors note: I SERIOUSLY HOPE MY NOOK WILL POST THIS!!!!!!! PLZ POST!!!! PLZ!!!!! Thanks for reading! And the next chapter can be found wherever my nook will let me post. Bye! ~TheFullmetalHomunculus~•

I really enjoyed this novella by Maya Banks. Three souls getting past insecurity of a threesome & what that can mean on a partnership, getting over hurt feelings when the two men allow their own insecurities to overshadow their need & trust in the one woman neither man can walk away from. A heartwarming love story full of determination & love!

I never ceases to amaze me how Maya Banks always delivers, and this Novella is no different. The characters are richly developed and full of color. The plot moves smoothly and quickly and the ending will shock you. I've read this Novella twice since I bought it, and it was just as great the second time around than the first. It's a must read!
