I took this book out of the library and had to buy it after literally reading it from cover to cover. Almost every recipe had my interest, and Ken Haedrich's entertaining introductions to each menu kept me reading. I immediately made beet (beet!) and cranberry muffins and farm-style chicken soup with sage dumplings--which my husband quickly rated in my top 3 soups. I can't say enough good things about this book. It includes recipes for all four seasons, not just hearty winter soups, and the variety of ingredients included means there is something for everyone. Plus, the number of different breads, salads and soups means that you will always have a perfect recipe handy, whether for a dinner party, the Superbowl or just a family supper. I have searched through dozens of soup books and this one is the best. Not only are all the recipes good, but the organization is excellent. The table of contents is organized by seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Under each season are mini menus that consist of a soup, a salad, and a bread. There are 50+ menus total and I love that you can see the entire book's recipes over the entire table of contents. Some of the salad and bread recipes are creative but not overly exotic or strange. This would be an excellent cookbook to add to your collection. It is so unique in its organization and with the whole soup, salad, bread menu idea.
