South Sea Island Magic/In the Mystic East

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Campbell
This Decca Phase 4 two-fer revives a pair of out-of-print LPs by English bandleader, pianist and composer Frank Chacksfield, South Sea Island Magic and In the Mystic East, released in 1957. Both albums contain romantic mood music with the first 14 tracks dominated by a Hawaiian theme including "Aloha Beloved," "Song of the Islands," "Blue Pacific Moonlight," and "Aloha Ole," while the remaining tracks focus on Eastern exotica like "March of the Siamese Children," "Caravan," "Japanese Sandman" and "Moonlight on the Ganges." This is an enjoyable reissue from Frank Chacksfield's out of print catalog on Decca records.
