Overview

"She hits that point of no return between love and hurt," says Missy Elliott of her protégée Tweet. On her debut disc, Southern Hummingbird, the Minnie Riperton-reminiscent vocalist explores both the highs and lows of a crazy little thing called love. Most notably, the New York native and Atlanta transplant delves into the darker side of love on the sultry "Smoking Cigarettes" and the haunting "Always Will." On the brighter side, Tweet sings the praises of her "Best Friend" and of her "skin so buttery brown" on the sensual, Timbaland-laced hit "Ooops (Oh My)." With hit makers Missy and Tim behind her, this talented singer-songwriter with the small name is sure to make it big.

This smash debut by Tweet a.k.a. Charlene Keys is a must-have every song has it's own message and tells about her life story. Not to mention the hidden track ''Big Spender by Missy Elliot! Pick it up, now!!

I think that it is a good album in all, but at the same time people don't want to know what you do at home. As far as touching on yourself is out of line. It is a good song but at the same time different but I don't wanna hate so I give you all props!!!

GET THIS ALBUM! Because this girl gives you some REAL R&B! You know the kind your mama used to play back in the day when she was cleaning up the house on a saturday morning. Tweet has a beautiful voice and very talented writing skills. More importantly though she's a very strong individual for taking a chance by coming out with an album that is not the norm for artists today, and because she touches subjects that you can tell are painful. I feel like I'm her friend because I've listened to her heartache, happiness, issues, triumphs and everything esle that she has gone through. How many artists invite you like that? She's a female prince, michael jackson and r. kelly (note these are the greatest). She's a refreshment to the R&B scene. It took a minute for me to get into her ''Boogie Nite'' but eventually it grew on me. The best tracks are ''Smoking Cigaretts'', ''Motel'', ''Best Friend'', ''Heaven'' and that bonus track ''Big Spendor''. But to tell the truth... I love the whole album. Her acoustic style is very much needed. Let's talk duet with music sensation India Arie! Much love goes out to this Singing Southern Hummingbird. Thanks for a great album

Tweet...what can I say. Her words are from the soul...pure, loving, and bold. She accompanies her lyrics with that of the guitar she plays..You need to check her album out its a must! You'll need it to help you quit smoking cigaretts at night.

Don't let that one song fool you. Tweet is definitely more than a one hot song wonder. Her cd is currently one of my favorite cd's, it never leaves my disc player. If you haven't heard it go get it. She has the club hits but mostly she has laid back hits that you can just let ride.

this album was not what i expected it to be.i expected a lot of up-tempo songs and lightweight lyrics.the album really surprised me.it is really deep and beautiful with haunting melodies and honest lyrics.

Tweet's album is exploding with refreshing musical talent. These days, it's hard to find an artist who isn't just popular because of the beat playing behind them or the catchy ''hook'' they say millions of times in one song. Tweet has a beautiful voice and her music is REAL. It seeks to capture it's listeners emotions ... this album was very well done. I'm impressed.

Middle of the night and this is my fourth review since 1 am, I must be crazy. But this Album even after 3 years is still my favorite. No matter when I put it in or how long I've gone without hearing it I enjoy it every time. I never find myself skipping songs when I listen. I could listen to it over and over. I think because the lyrics are so real. As another reviewer said they're honest (the lyrics). The words may be packaged in different melodies, beats and tracks but they're still very accessible to the listener. Any body could enjoy although the album deals with mature subject matter some may not FULLY understand.

Tweet is an awsome artist that really hits the depths of love in this CD... she wants to separate herself from all of that...this CD really is a good way to start off a great career for a good artist...i need to not only give her props, but also to Timbaland & Missy...

Tweet has such a lovely voice and deep song that just makes you play it over and over and over. The cd has got to be the best R&B CD so far this year. People are sleeping on it cause of her first single (the older people) but her cd is far from that is great overall. Check it out

I was expecting something totally different from this artist. By far, this will be the greatest record of 2002. The production and sonic artistry are amazing! The drums BANG, the vocals sound heavenly, and the effects on songs like ''Drunk'' are mind numbing. I thought this was going to be a run of the mill R&B record, but was plesently suprised to find MUCH more substance! My favorite track is ''Complain''... Note, COPE THIS RECORD NOW & YOU'LL GET SECRET BONUS TRACKS!!!

It's musical in a way music has not been. It's daring, caring, and in a since overbaring. It's the timbaland at his finest. Missy at her finest. Tweet in her prime. A artisic masterpiece.
