    love this cookbook!

    I received this as a gift and love it! All of the recipes I have tried have gotten rave reviews from my family. The only pre-cooking I have had to do is to brown some of the meats (previous poster mentioned this as a negative). I would highly reccomend it to anyone wanting to save time and serve great meals.

    cookbook review

    I was excited when I quickly flipped through the cookbook. There seemed to be a wide variety of recipes. However, once I actually took time looking through it, I realized that only half of the recipes use a slow cooker. Also, several that use a slow cooker require about 20 minutes or more of pre-cooking the ingredients on the stove. I was disappointed because I wanted a cookbook full of slow cooker recipes where the cooking is exclusively done using the slow cooker.

    Delicious Recipes!

    Easy to follow recipes, great for novices or those more experienced at grilling and BBQ. Great recipes for side dishes and desserts, too!

    Fantastic recipes that are easy and fast to make.

    I have four kids, a husband that travels half the month and I work. I am a busy person but I enjoy cooking and this cookbook makes that easy. The ingredients are things I can normally find in the grocery store and doesn't require any special cookware to make. There is nothing I have served from these cookbooks that my family and friends haven't loved.

    Southern Living Annual 2008 Review

    This cookbook was a little difficult to use. Nothing was organized inteligently. I was a disappointed by how hard it was to find stuff but once I did i greatly enjoyed the recipes.

    Disappointed

    They should call this book 'The Southern Living Cookbook for Kids'. I am by no means a gourmet cook, but as someone who knows their way around the kitchen, I was suprised to go through this book and see just how juvenile some of the recipes were (examples: s'mores, milkshakes and a recipe called 'chocolate cookie pudding'. To make this recipe, you put instant chocolate pudding in the bottom of a bowl and then top it with whipped cream and crushed oreos). I found that few recipes that aren't for kids are so basic that you don't need to spend $30.00 to learn to make them (such as pasta salad, club sandwiches or a recipe which calls for chicken, lettuce and cheese served on pita bread). I should have expected such for a book titled 'quick and easy'. Save your money, I wish I would have.

    Tasty Recipes, Quick Fixes, Normal Ingredients

    This is probably my favorite cookbook, and I have lots of them. Every recipe is really fast, easy and uses normal ingredients, so it's easy to try new and different things. Thusfar I've tried about 40-45 of the recipes, and there's been only one that we didn't love! I like this cookbook so much I bought two more- one each for my best friend and my mother-in-law. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes to cook!

    Outstanding

    I gave this book as a wedding gift after it was highly recommended to me by a friend. I think it is just what you need if you are just starting out cooking and want easy, delicious recipes. I haven't found a better one yet!

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

    This is a wonderful cookbook if you are looking for beautiful, mouth-watering cookies to serve for the holidays (or anytime). Includes classics like jam thumbprint cookies as well as a number of new ones like mocha-frosted brownies and chocolate-coconut Mounds cookies! Every recipe that I have tried so far has been a winner! :-)

    Dissapointed

    I am very disappointed with the 2008 cookbook. My husband gave it to me for Christmas, because I collect cookbooks and Southern Living was one of my favorites. Not anymore. The cookbook is different, very different. First of all I was blown away by the cheap quality. A few pictures in the front and in the middle. The paper is thin and feels cheap, the glossy elegance is history; printing is in black and white. There seems to be no logic in the order of the recipes at all. It is different and I won't use it too much. Actually I would like to return it.
