Library Journal

If you're a fan of Southern Living magazine or someone who craves gooey cookies with lots of candy bar pieces and goodies mixed in (or frosted on top), this is the book for you. There are also some surprisingly subtle and elegant cookie recipes included as well, such as Biscotti with Lavender and Orange and Chocolate Espresso Shortbread. Overall, this is a nice mix of recipes, although it's a little heavy on recipes like Kitchen Sink Brownies and Chunky Chocolate Gobs. Each recipe is clearly laid out, easy to follow, and accompanied by a large, mouthwatering color photo of the cookie. All basic cookie categories are covered (drop, rolled, shaped, and bar cookies), with some nice touches to dress up old favorites such as brownies, shortbread, and chocolate chip. Other than a thorough index, a page of cookie baking tips, and a page of metric equivalents, this book is all recipes. Purchase where there is interest.
