I won an ARC copy by the author and am writing an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.
The story starts off with a bang. I like how a story can pull you in from the start and let me tell you that you will be interested from the start in this stand alone book from Casey Peeler. If you have read her Full Circle series (which I highly recommend), this is totally different and set in southern and small town environment, however the vibe from the people are different.
Flash forward to the present and you have Reagan (female lead) and her pawpaw, Mr. Lowery(male co-lead) on the farm. Reagan's point of view is how this starts out you can see how she is the typical all american southern belle on the outside, looks can be very deceiving.
Enter childhood love of her life Emmett(male co-lead), drop dead gorgeous man who has come back to high school just in time for Rea, as her friends call her, needs her the most.
This story hit home to me at the end. You seem to know all throughout the book what is going to have to happen to have Rea grow up and rely on, Emmett and Cole (Emmett's step brother).
The story throws you off at times because it goes from Rea's point of view to Emmett's point of view. For some people that can get a bit confusing if you have not read a book like this before, however as you read further in the book you do not even notice the view switch as much and just see a scene play out in front of you. I think that helps clear the confusion for those who have never read a book that switches points of views.
I think this story tells a lot about of how keeping up appearances can be hard and deceiving and to be true to yourself. I also like to think that Mrs. Peeler wants us to realize that there are people, true friends we can count on when we need them.
I hope she would consider writing another book to see how Rea and Emmett fair at college and how the farm turns out.

I received an Arc of this book and love the cover!

Casey is a beautiful author who can write GREAT books!! I loved all of the characters, the story was great and I was sad to see it end. There has only been 1-2 books that have actually made me cry and now I can add this one to that list! I hope there is a second book to find out what happens with everyone! If Casey Peeler writes it then I will definitely be reading it!

On the outside, Raegan Lowery is the perfect All-American girl ¿

On the outside, Raegan Lowery is the perfect All-American girl – honor student, varsity cheerleader, beautiful and nice to everyone, but she has also had a hard past.  At the age of 5, Raegan lost her entire family except for her granddaddy, who will always be number 1 in her life.  When school ends, the hard work begins and she does more than her part in running the family farm to make sure her granddaddy doesn’t overdo it.

Emmett Bridges made his mark on Raegan when he gave her a stuffed bunny after she lost everything.  Little did he know, that small act of kindness made a huge impact on Raegan’s life and she has never forgotten him.  After being gone for a few years, Emmett’s back and he can’t get Raegan out of his head.  He’s been warned to stay away by others who have staked their claim on Raegan, but he’ll let her make that choice.

When Raegan learns that her world may be turned upside down once again, she’s asked to keep the secret within her small family.  This secret is eating her alive and breaking her heart, and she doesn’t know how she’ll survive this again.  Emmett is the perfect southern gentleman and she’s falling for him fast, but can she fully let him in her life?  No one will ever come before Granddaddy and she wills always be there for him, but who will be there for her in the end?

I have had the honor of working with Casey Peeler on all of her projects, and I have loved watching her grow as an author.  I can honestly say that this is BY FAR the best book she has written to date.  Southern Perfection is a beautiful story full of love, healing, southern life, family, and friends.  It is heartwarming, as well as heartbreaking, and I absolutely loved every minute of it.  Keep a box of tissues handy, you’ll need it!

Southern Perfection is an awesome read!!! Casey Peeler has become one of the authors that I automatically one click whenever she publishes something. I loved the whole Full Circle series so I had to read Casey's newest book, Southern Perfection. Southern Perfection is great and I was not disappointed. It's definitely worth one clicking.
Raegan is an amazing character. She has had a lot happen in her live. She is so put together. She's not your typical high schooler, she has a lot going on but keeps it;s all balanced.
Emmett is swoon worthy. He left town for a while and now he's back. He understands Raegan. He also is the only boy that Raegan has shown interest in.
I also loved Grandaddy. The love in Grandaddy and Raegan's relationship is one we all wish we had. Grandaddy is also a strong character, he doesn't miss a beat when he threatens Emmett with his shotgun. I'm not sure if he would really meet Emmett at the door with a shotgun if he didn't bring Raegan back on time but it sure did make me smile when I read it.
It's told in the dual POV of Raegan and Emmett. I love dual POVs because you can get into both Raegan and Emmett's heads and she what they are thinking.
It's a great sweet story that reminds you how important love and family are. It also an emotional roller coaster of a read and you might want to have some tissues near by just in case.
