    Great Book

History book this is not. It is a great novel. If anything this novel would inspire a reader to find out the facts about the space race. I loved this book because of the characters and how they interacted. I think Michener does well in protraying some of his characters as both good and bad. He does it in a way that pulls your opinion in both ways so you have to stop and think for a moment. This book is fast enough in action to keep you reading but does an excellent job in letting you get caught up in the characters. Definite must read.

Okay Story But It Could Have Been a Little Less Stereotypical

I have to admit I didn't read the whole thing. The storyline is probably of interest to those who are fascinated by the early space exploration efforts of the U.S., but the characters tend to have a sort of the flat stereotypical nature one usually associates with 'Hogan's Heros' or 'Leave It To Beaver'. After reading how the 'villian' Strabismus had a Jewish father and a Catholic mother, I threw the book in the trash.

Space: A good time to read this book.

I've read seven books by Michener and this is very good. Not as good as The Source or Chesapeake, but better than The Caribbean or Texas. The characters are rich and involving and the story is first rate! Michener left me wondering what he actually meant by his title: Space. There is more to this story than the title. His final chapters left me to wonder why we do not focus on space wxploration as much as we used to. I would defintely recommend this book to a friend.

    Good lesson

Difficult to read, especially for me as a German, but keeps you reading. Very detailed but never boring story about the development of space travelling.
