The whole series is Awesome! The first in the Trilogy-'Out of the silent Planet'- focuses on what life would be like without the fall of man. The book has great SciFi Creatures like the Hrossa and the Piffltriggi. The second-'Perelanda'-is the amasing struggle between good and evil(think adam and eve). The third-'That Hideous Strength' takes place on earth. Unlike most science fiction novels that have been written in the past century this one is not 'out dated' in fact this probobly has more to do with the present than the past. To see what I mean you need to read the book. The whole series is very well written and is packed full of theology, mythology, and alot of stuff that will make think alot more about the universe around us. I'm not just talking Physical, I'm talkin' spiritual.
I loved the second book. I am reading hte third book now. I like C.S. Lewis and I would say that these are his best books ever. I think everyone should read these books.
Lewis rendering of the fantastic settings of these three books is engaging, realistic and at the same time mythical. Any one interested in science fiction, theology, mythology, or C.S. lewis' worldview will find within the space trilogy a wealth of information. Lewis weaves together an integrated picture of the universe and man's place in an epic struggle between good and evil that finds itself fought on many planes and several planets. The description is breathtaking and the picture this trilogy paints is one of a universe threatened by a disease of pride and wickedness brought about by man's rebellion against God. Lewis leaves nothing unexplained and succeeds in putting together an engaging puzzle of life, theology, selfishness, mythology, and man's prime struggle. Triumphant!
These three books are by far the best that C.S. Lewis has written in his career. They were the most original space trilogy and i couldn't put them down. Any big lover of sci-fi would love the creatures pfiflitrigi and the unman. These creatures were so great. Anybody with the slightest bit of imagination will loves these stoties. Trust Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
