Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
The title of this beautiful, oversized book is deceiving: although its emphasis is on writing, the stunning color photography dominates the text. Historical photographs as well as current shots by Spanish photographers combine to give a marvelous visual introduction to Spain. Accompanying the photos are deeply personal essays by such authors as Anthony Burgess, Alan Riding, V.S. Pritchett, and Malcolm Bradbury, each sharing his own impressions of a particular place or subject. Travel details such as advice on sightseeing, food, and lodging may be found in the finely crafted appendix. Anyone who picks up this book will want to jump on the first flight to anywhere in Spain. And since Spain is already a very popular destination for American travelers, this volume is highly recommended for all travel collections. Olga B.
