Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This book about Spain is part of a series entitled "Countries of the World." It fits nicely into an elementary school library, and is well organized and easy to read. Readers familiar with this series will recognize the succinct style of single pages, each dedicated to a topic of interest to children, such as home, school, food and sports. In the back of the book there is a game commonly played in Spain, new words and definitions, and pronunciations of Spanish greetings. The main focus is on the people and the culture, with the basics of the geography and location touched on in the beginning. The bright colorful photographs of the people at work and play will bring children from across the ocean to the front door of this diverse and vibrant country. 2001, Bridgestone Books, $17.26. Ages 8 to 12. Reviewer: Kathleen Orosz
