This cookbook is very easy to read, informative, as well as educational concerning Spain. It provides interesting facts about various cities in Spain, as well as the history behind some of the foods and their use. I especially enjoyed reading about the Moorish influence on the traditions, culture, and culinary habits of southern Spain. However, that said, some of the ingredients could be rather difficult to find unless you are living in a rather large metropolitan city, or have the resources to order from an online ethnic specialty foods shop. There are some rather nice illustrations of the dishes, but I really would have enjoyed seeing more--both of the dishes and the country. This is a culturally interesting read, which I would recommend for anyone interested in Spanish cooking!

I bought this book as a gift for a friend and as part of the presentation of the book I prepared several of the dishes/tapas. Both the book and the tapas went over very well. The directions were easy to follow except the units of measure are different from the U.S. standard, ounces rather than cups. Even so I didn't worry about being overly precise and each item turned out delicious. I also enjoyed the brief overview of locality information for the dishes as well as the beautiful illustrations which offered nice presentation suggestes with each recipe.

I hosted a large gathering of neighbors and friends shortly after purchasing this book. The selections I prepared from this cookbook were a big hit with this group. Esoteric ingredients represent the only drawback of some of its recipes.

My dream is to go to Spain...I have already prepared some of these wonderful Spanish dishes! What I really like about this particular recipe book is that the author broke it down by the different regions in Spain...I love paella, I love the flavor of saffron...I love this book and the pictures are beautiful! I recommend this recipe book highly to anyone who shares the same dream or who just wants a taste of a different world!
