“In the tradition of A Year in Provence and Under the Tuscan Sun, [Derek Lambert] provides vivid descriptions of an entirely unique cultural landscape. [A] delightfully wry narrative…chock —full of breathtaking comical escapades and authentically colorful characters, this affectionately humorous memoir will appeal to both seasoned and armchair travelers.” –Booklist
From the Trade Paperback edition.
While this could be a good book for those just getting started in learning about life in Spain, I did not find it very accurate. This "money-strapped" couple managed to purchase a mansion and farm and hire dozens of workers to renovate their home plus a full time gardener and a full time indoor maid...all for a family of three. Also, everyone seemed to speak English well (not my experience - but this could be more common on the coast). The book is a fun read if you get it free or used (my case), but there are better books out there on Spain in my view. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
