    A Great Read

This is the third episode in the Courtney Saga and although first published in 1977 these stories never date. It is always best to begin at the beginning of these extended narratives and over twenty-five years there must be many young readers who did not read them as they were published. They are also great to read again something I rarely do, but after so long I am really enjoying this period in Wilbur Smith¿s writing career.

    Third in series - excellent

While reading this series about the Courtney family is not required, it does add depth to each book if you have read the ones before. The characters are fully developed and interesting. The descriptions of the African landscape and the history of South Africa is fascinating.
