All Music Guide - Steve Huey
S.O.D.'s Speak English or Die was an important record in the fusion of hardcore punk with thrash and speed metal, making even more explicit the connections that Anthrax's music implied. Moshpit firepower and goofball humor

This is a truly hilarious record, as long as one doesn't take it too seriously. Its many offbeat odes including 'Milk' 'Freddy Krueger' and the extremely brief 'Diamonds and Rust' are probably the most humorous metal ever recorded. Of course it wouldn't mean a thing if the music weren't good, but fortunately this album features enough blinding speed, earthquake drumming and chunka-chunka thrash riffs to keep discerning listeners satisfied. Metal fans need to give this at least one listen; just don't attach too much importance to the outrageous lyrics.
