About the Author

My name is Deanna Marie Julbe. I was born on September 20, 1984. I have a wonderful man (Angel) and a beautiful son (Angel Jr.) I have three sisters (Jessica, Christine, and Missy), and four brothers (Steven, Daniel, Carlos, and RIP Big Steven). Jessica, Steven, and Daniel are my mother’s children, and my other siblings are by marriage. My father passed away when I was six weeks old. My mother remarried and had my younger brother, Daniel. My mother worked very hard to provide for us the best she could and never let our discouragements hold us back. I began writing poetry when I was about thirteen years old. My sister Jessica was the writer in the family, and I was so inspired by her beautiful poetry that I picked up the pen and have not put it down ever since. I was raised in Middle Village (Queens) New York and in 1998, my mother re-married (Thomas). My parents, my younger brother Daniel, and I then moved to Florida. It was a very hard time in my life; I did not do well with the move. I was in a new school with no friends or family and I felt so alone. I turned to my poetry as my escape.
