Overview

Quit defending Christianity.
Author Carl Medearis is not interested in keeping Christianity alive. Not one bit. Carl believes it has grown into something that is rarely attractive, frequently divisive, and all too often embarrassing. He believes you may feel this way too. In his new book, Speaking
of Jesus, Carl gives us a wink and a grin and the permission to stop feeding this thing called Christianity. His offer is that doing so allows us the freedom to relax and feast on Jesus.

“You may not agree with everything in this book. I don’t. But you will be moved by it as I was…. Carl’s way of speaking of Jesus is immensely attractive.”
Miroslav Volf, founding director of Yale Center for Faith and Culture and author of Allah: A Christian Response

“Speaking of Jesus is a beautifully framed rethink on what it means to champion Jesus.”
Hugh Halter, author of The Tangible Kingdom and Sacrilege

What a concept! Looking outside our theologicaal, traditionalist, defensive boxes to simple point to and follow Jesus as He asked. Love. Everybody. No matter what. Which.... is exactly how Jesus approached the religious institution and society of his time. So simple, yet so many don't quite get it. Well done, Medearis, well done.

Challenging and insightful. It's not a read that'll send you away feeling happy and wonderful about yourself, but it is a book that will make you think. Carl lives out what he writes about, and he truly loves God and others, and that showed through this. I'm still contemplating and chewing on what I read. Highly recommended.

A life-changing book! Whatever religious label you put on yourself, this is a must-read. It is freeing for Christians and non-Christians alike. Relax and enjoy Jesus. No pressure.

Amazing This is a great read for anyone who is struggling with the concept of Christianity or sharing their faith. The author does a wonderful job on sharing how Christians need to focus on following Jesus instead of getting hung up on different doctrines. Carl Medearis, the author, also dives into many difficult topics such as love, how to react to different religions and how to describe a person’s faith.  His main point is to show how Christians can spread the good news just by loving people and not trying to force Christianity down their throat. Carl believes that Christianity has become an ugly word and people need to hear about Jesus and his teachings more. In Speaking of Jesus, Carl changes the way people think about Christianity to focus more on Jesus and how his words inspire some hard thoughts about life in this world. Carl helps the reader recognize if he or she is following Christian culture or the teachings of the Son of God. Overall, I believe it to be a great book that keeps the reader engaged and curious. The text brings up some new ideas for some old topics and shows the reader how to respond in different situations by following Jesus.

One of the most eye opening books I have read. Keeps Jesus above all. I will retread again and again.

Carl makes you see Jesus truly as He is. Not as someone or something we (humanity) wants him to be.

What s refreshing view of Christianity. What a relief from all the judgements and trappings that seperate us.

Challenging book. Shows us ways of thinking out of our comfortable box & comfort zones. shares his perspective on Christianity, being a Christian, following Jesus & being a follower of Jesus. He shares his experience, insight, wisdom & perspective. Definitely something to think about & questions to ask yourself. I do not want to turn people away from Jesus, so how do I speak of Jesus, how do I share the gospel, the good news? Carl Medearis offers some suggestions.
