Excellent book for improving vocabulary and reading comprehension

I bought this book for my son (entering 5th grade in the fall) to improve his vocabulary and reading comprehension. It has been absolutely fantastic. Each lesson has a one page reading assignment. The paragraphs are numbered in the book, which is a big help to the kids when they are answering the questions.

I really like that the questions often (where necessary) will indicate the paragraph where the kids should look (and they will need to) in order to answer the question. This significantly reduces frustration level.

The variety of the questions is also nice - each story seems to have a slightly different mix of question types. Sometimes they are vocabulary oriented, sometimes identifying synonyms or antonyms or similes, learning to build an outline of a story/summarize key ideas.

There are often a several stores (one after the other) that build on previous stories.

I have been very happy with this book - just what my son needed! Would highly recommend it to others.

    Excellent Product!

As always I am pleased with my purchase of Spectrum products. I have been using Spectrum workbooks for the past ten years to homeschool my two boys. The products are very resourceful and user friendly. My fourteen year old son is now in COLLEGE! Thanks!
