Overview

Folks who stop by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts during the first part of 2005 might be surprised to see an exhibition of cars, an unusual undertaking for an art museum—but defensible, as cars embody aesthetics shaped by technology and functionality. Clothing designer Ralph Lauren has acquired a striking collection, and 29 specimens are presented in this companion to the exhibition. The cars are featured in full-page or two-page color photos (by Michael Furman) along with descriptive and historical text (by auto writers Beverly Rae Kimes and Winston S. Goodfellow) and an interview with Lauren about cars, his choices, and design. The book is oversize: 9.5x12". Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
