Chapter OneSpeedy the squirrel was born in a tree on the edge of a forest overlooking the sea. Each morning he woke as the first rays of dawn painted beautiful scenes on the sky's horizon.
He watched as the gulls, far below by the shore, seemed to float on the breeze as they dipped and they soared.
Then deep in his heart something started to swell - a longing so great that he just had to tell.
Excited, he ran down a branch to his dad and told him the wonderful plans that he had. "I'm going to fly like the birds by the sea. "I don't want to spend all my life climbing trees."
His father just laughed and said, "That's absurd. "A squirrel doesn't have wings like a bird. "Your claws are for climbing, your legs built for speed. "For the life of a squirrel, you have all that you need."
