New York Times bestselling author Janet Chapman takes us to charming Spellbound Falls, where strange things have started happening ever since Maximilian Oceanus came to town…

Maximilian Oceanus arrives in Spellbound Falls just in time to save Olivia Baldwin from an overly aggressive suitor, only to find himself attracted to the beautiful, if rather aloof, widow. And although Mac has come to Inglenook to get a handle on fatherhood, his newly discovered six-year-old son has set his sights on finding his father a wife.

Olivia, however, is busy getting Inglenook ready for its new season, so she doesn’t have time to deal with her growing attraction to the dangerously seductive Mac. Besides, weird stuff seems to happen all around him. Take the fact that her seatbelt keeps getting stuck in his presence, or locks magically open for him without keys, and that he seems to have a talent for sensing things. Never mind the three lost albatrosses walking down the road in the middle of the night. Since when are there albatrosses in Maine?

But despite Olivia’s resistance to falling under the sexy man’s spell, Olivia is having trouble fighting her longing. Because she knows Mac is just the man to unlock the powerful passion deep within her….

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Interlacing magic and reality, Chapman (Highlander for the Holidays) weaves a delightful yarn around lonely young widow Olivia Baldwin. Despite the bossy supervision of her mother-in-law, Olivia loves running Inglenook, a successful parent/child camp in picturesque Spellbound Falls. When single father Mac Oceanus arrives early with his son, Olivia is instantly smitten by his good looks, strength, and confidence, and she weighs the joys of initiating an affair against her fear of abandonment. As Mac tries to draw Olivia out of her shell, strange occurrences crop up, like his sister Carolina’s sudden appearance during a snowstorm, a working cellphone in a towerless region, and an ankle bracelet that Olivia can’t take off no matter how she tries. Contrived conversations between the otherwise well-drawn characters are distracting, but readers will root for the down-to-earth heroine who finally has her chance at powerful love. From the Publisher
"Henry and Olivia's daughter provides lots of humor and surprises in Chapman's well-paced, fun romance. Even the Highlanders make an appearance in what is sure to be a popular series, especially with fans of Barbara Bretton's Sugar Maple paranormal small-town romances." —-Booklist

    Love this Series

Great story, Mac and his Son are funny and lovable as they learn to be a family. Olivia and her Daughter are great teachers, add the rest of Mac's family and the fun begins. Janet Chapman is a talented author who just keeps writing great books with handsome, sexy Highlanders. Makes any woman want to move to Maine.

Janet does it again in this wonderful book, Spellbound Falls is

Janet does it again in this wonderful book, Spellbound Falls is in the perfect setting for this book. You will fall in love with all the characters in this book, especially Mac and Henry.
Janet hit a spot in my heart for this story, alot of my past was in this book and she made me see alot of things in a different light. This story is about family no matter what way you put it. Of course there has to be a little romance and then the powerful end.
It's very hard to put this book down, you will find yourself living in Spellbound Falls while reading this book, the setting is so real you can only imagine yourself there.
This book is a spin-off from Moonlight Bay Series, but is very much a great new start for the new series she is going to give us.
Great Job Janet and loved all the characters in the book, they are very dear to my heart!-Vanetta

    Wonderful story.

Janet Chapman's writing style seems to have returned more to the "Highlander" series style. Max Oceanus has powers but uses them sparingly and his care and attraction to Olivia is believable.

Spellbound Falls, one word best describes this book; sweet. So sweet I now need to plan a trip to the dentist, but the trip will be worth it. ~ Under the Covers

Maximilian Oceanus has come to Spellbound Falls to spend time with Henry, the six year old son he never knew he had but already loves. Luckily he comes in time to save Olivia Baldwin, the manager of the camp they are staying in, from being attacked by a frisky employee. From the start Olivia is attracted to his strength but after a lifetime of being abandoned by those who should love her she is determined not to fall for him. But with a matchmaking six year old plotting to get them together and the undeniable chemistry will she be able to resist his magical charm for long?

I seem to be reading this series backward, I have already read one of the future books, but I am glad I came back to the start of the series, although they do work well as standalones it is nice to see all the characters stories. Although, Janet Chapman’s characters do weave through all her series so if you want a complete view of the magical world that’s been created you will need to read her Highlander series (totally worth it I love her sexy Highlanders) and her Midnight Bay series (also worth it!).

But back to Spellbound Falls, one word best describes this book; sweet. So sweet I now need to plan a trip to the dentist, but the trip will be worth it. This is a very gentle romance, although the hero is described as big strong and alpha instead of bashing her on the head with his club dragging Olivia off by the hair to his man cave so he can have his wicked way with her, he lets his feelings be known and waits for her to approach the man cave all by herself.

There were also the kids adding to the adorableness of this series, Henry, Mac’s son was hands down the cutest kid I have ever read. I just know when he grows up he is going to be a heartbreaker (and probably not even realise it!) and I really hope Ms Chapman can squeeze a book out for him.

Although this might not be the most memorable book and Mac and Olivia although they did have chemistry it wasn’t steaming hot, this was a well written and heart warming read that left me with a smile on my face.

Olivia Baldwin is a widowed, single mother that lives in Spellbo

Olivia Baldwin is a widowed, single mother that lives in Spellbound Falls, a small town where everyone knows each other. She helps her mother-in-law run Inglenook, a camp that advises single parents on how to better connect with their children. On a run to town to purchase a water tank with her employee there is an unwanted romantic advance and a stranger comes to her rescue.

The stranger is a handsome, protective man named Maximilian Oceanus. He is arriving at Inglenook early to get extra face time with the staff. There is definitely more than meets the eye with Max. His character is an old fashioned type of man that is protective of people he cares for. My first thought was if Olivia didn't want him I'd be glad to take him off her hands.

I felt that the romance aspect of Spellbound Falls is true to life since Olivia is a widowed single mother. She is guarded and isn't really looking for love. The relationship between Olivia and Max builds slowly and there were a few bumps in the road.

Spellbound Falls has a little bit of everything, so all readers will enjoy this book. There is a sweet yet hesitant romance, some magic and mythology, and several twists and turns in the plot that I did not see coming. The characters are interesting and made me not want to put the book down. I recommend this book if you like a little bit of magic in your romance.

This Spellbound series does not seem to be starting out as well as the Highlander series. Macs' character undergoes a personality change from "Mystical Warrior" to "Spellbound Falls" . Olivia goes from a timid mouse to a totally in control woman in only one scene. I expected more from Janet Chapman. I will not quit buying her books but I do hope her story lines improve.

    Highly Recommend

What this book has a paranormal element to it, the focus of the story wa about the main character trusting her heart again. It was well written and a page turner. I am glad this is a series as I am looking forward to learning more about the scecondary characters.

I am not going to read the other books by Ms. Chapman where the original male lead was introduced.
