Overview

A mansion full of secrets...
From the moment investigative reporter Jackie Alexander steps foot inside the mansion dominating the Demiris estate on the beautiful Greek island of Corfu, her suspicions are on high alert. This is no ordinary assignment... the life of her beloved cousin, Aphrodite, is in grave danger, as the heirs to the incredible fortune of Greek tycoon Andreas Demiris are dying one after the other, under mysterious circumstances.

A man with secrets of his own...
The only person who can help Jackie is Michael Apostolou, former Special Forces Officer and one of the finest detectives on the Athens police force. Jackie realizes soon enough that despite her simmering desire for him, she can't really trust him, as the seductive detective seems to be investigating those mysterious deaths for reasons of his own.

Trusting the wrong person can be deadly...
Jackie and Michael are forced to work together, but the suspicions and unanswered questions are devouring them, just like their rising passion for each other. In games like this, the stakes are high and the players are ruthless. When Jackie is kidnapped by the most dangerous player of all, time is running out as Michael is forced to choose between jeopardizing his mission and personal quest for justice, or the life of the gorgeous intruder of his heart...

"The author deftly interweaves the plot as it twists and turns, until the reader fears for the lives of heroes, Jackie and Michael. It's a fast-paced, suspenseful read, with diabolical villains, an intrepid heroine, and a super hot detective!" - InD'Tale Magazine

A fast paced and enjoyable story!
Romance, mystery, suspense and a beautiful Greek island setting - if you like romantic thrillers then this book has got all the ingredients you need.
Jackie Alexander is a feisty and kick-ass heroine who, despite her single-mindedness in solving the mystery of the murders that are blighting her family, is unable to ignore the instant attraction she feels towards Michael Apostolou, the handsome Greek detective who is also trying to crack the case. I loved the descriptions of the island in this book, which were very real. When Jackie enters the deserted mansion at the start of the story, we are instantly drawn into a vivid and suspenseful scene with danger lurking immediately round the corner. I also liked the secondary characters (the ruthless and manipulative Philip Manos and his ill-treated secretary) and they added an interesting third dimension to a fast paced and exciting story.

This is one of those books I would describe as a guilty pleasure. Angel Sefer knows how to bring suspense, innocence, drama and heat into a story.

Our protagonist, Jackie, is a forthright woman with the desire to solve the mystery as to why so many people in the Demiris family are dying. Enter Michael, a hot Grecian police detective and the sparks begin to fly.

Spellbound in his Arms is a great addition to the romantic suspense genre. Readers of J.D. Robb and Maggie Shayne will love this book!

Spellbound in His Arms is a great book that sucks you right in. It's exciting, suspenseful, and full of adventure. The main characters display a realistic attraction and work well together to solve the mystery. The exotic location is fun to read about too. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This novel was intensely real. Every event was not only possible but extremely plausible. As a reader you get caught up in the suspense of the story while rooting for the budding romance. The entire story was written in a realistic yet completely captivating light. Her narrative in natural and fluid, simultaneously filling the reader in and keeping them guessing. Sefer’s descriptions paint a brilliant picture of this Greek isle, combining romanticism with reality to create a phenomenal whole.

The cast of characters in this novel was fantastically developed. Sefer uses a sliding scale of development for each character based on their role in the story. It adds for a very unique feel. I also appreciate how you get to know the male lead as the female lead does. The gradual character development adds an air of mystery to this brilliant alpha male. The female lead was the only real issue that I had with this story. I mean really... How stupid can you be? That said, I also loved her as a lead. She just made a few decisions that had me wanting to smash my head off the wall.

Suspense and intrigue definitely play a role in this intriguing tale with some very romantic vibes. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

SPELLBOUND IN HIS ARMS is a fantastic first novel by author Angel Sefer. Set in Greece, mostly on the island of Corfu, with some scenes in Athens (I was excited to find a short scene took place in Plaka, a historic neighborhood in Athens and my favorite spot when I vacationed there!). The author describes the Greek scenery beautifully (she is from there, after all), and the location is definitely a major player in the story.

The chemistry between the main characters, Jackie and Michael, is fiery and passionate right from the start, but what I really liked is that they were able to keep their heads to solve the mystery even as their relationship blossomed. Jackie is a feisty heroine, and nothing, even super-hot detective Michael Apostolou, is going to keep her from finding the truth about who is harming her family. There are plenty of bad guys and plenty of action in this book--perfect for a fast and fun read.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery with a good amount of romance. I look forward to reading more novels by this author.

This book takes off right from the beginning with mystery, love, betrayal, and it keep rolling all through the book. Just when you think you have a handle on it, the author throws you a curve and you are left standing with your mouth open. Saying I be damned. I enjoy this story very much, the author gave you a story that was believable, with a nice flow which took you from one mystery to another.

Jackie is investigating the death of her family, hoping to stop more deaths. She is a beautiful lady that even Michael can’t walk away from. Not even when he thinks she is up to no good and might have something to do with the deaths.

Jackie just can’t seem to keep out of trouble and of course Michael is always to the rescue. But will he always be there, can he always get her out and keep her out of trouble? Someone wants all the money, land and power. Can they find out who, and stop them before it is too late? They become a team but they never fully trust the other, will love come through or will the issues they have come between them?

You have tons of bad guys, who don’t trust anyone. Father and son against each other and so much more. This book will blow your mind with all the twist and turns the author takes you though. I feel sure you will enjoy the read, set back and enjoy the mystery of the Greek Isles.

    I really enjoyed this book!
This romantic suspense story takes place in the beautiful Greek island of Corfu. The minute I started reading I was immediately drawn in. The author immediately captures your attention and you can't help but read on, desperate to find out the answers for yourself. Definitely kept you guessing and turning the pages thought out the entire book.

I liked the characters in this book. Michael and Jackie fall in love at first sight. Both being strong willed and finding themselves under uncertain circumstances, they try to ignore their feelings. Especially since they don't trust each other. Jackie feels that Michael isn't being honest and is hiding his own secrets. Michael doesn't know who he can trust anymore and being around Jackie and having all sorts of feelings towards her is affecting his judgement. Having no choice, they are forced to work together to figure out the mysterious deaths of the heirs to a Greek tycoons fortune.

The ending for me was a bit rushed. When I read the last page I was like, what?? I want more!! For me everything was summarized in the epilogue. There was definitely some potential for a few more chapters with a bit more detail on  Michael and Jackie's story. For this I gave it 4 stars.  Overall it was still a good read and I would definitely recommend this book.

3 ¿Perfect Afternoon Read¿ Stars! Jackie Alexander is on a miss

    3 “Perfect Afternoon Read” Stars!

Jackie Alexander is on a mission to find a killer before the killer finds her cousin. Using her investigative reporting background, she travels to the Demiris Mansion on the island of Corfu in search of papers that may determine the outcome of a fortune as well as expose clues to the name of the person who is killing off the Demiris aires.

But on a dark, cold night, the last thing she expected to find in a secluded, abandoned mansion was a handsome stranger who pulls on some deep and unfamiliar emotion inside her. However, knowing who to trust isn’t easy with a killer on the loose.

Detective Michael Apostolou is ex-special forces turned cop and is investigating the deaths that surround the Demiris inheritance. People are dropping like flies and he needs to get to the bottom of it before the next victim. But upon meeting the beautiful Jackie, he might just have more to lose than he ever thought possible... and it doesn’t help that neither of them are being honest.

He has secrets. She has secrets. And as they hide from their instant attraction, the killer closes in and no one is safe.

The author did a great job of building a very suspenseful and thrilling mystery. You know right off where the conflict is coming from but there are surprises along the way you don’t see coming and that was fun.

This read was short, fast paced and exciting. There wasn’t a dull moment.. however, I think that some of the scenes were TOO fast. This read was filled with lots of mystery and lots of actual story but there wasn’t a lot of passion or romance. The characters fell in insta-love and there was no slow build. Also, the ending felt rushed. The characters seemed to walk on scene, quickly play their parts and just as quickly, exit stage left. There were no emotions in the telling of it, no descriptive words to enhance the feelings of the scene and not much dialogue. It was more like a “telling” of events and I’m more of a lover of “showing” the events. And their was very little character development.

Overall, this was a wonderful mystery with exciting action, interesting developments, suspenseful events and an enchanting setting. I loved the beautiful and eerie feel of the island and the mansion. I do wish there had been more development with the characters and more passion/romance but regardless, this was a good, quick afternoon read.

The depiction of the Green Isles is stunning, making me want to go and visit there. The story line will keep you enthralled and reading well into the night. Who are the good guys and who is the worst of the bad guys and will Jackie make it out alive? This is definitely a murder/romance you don't want to miss reading. There are at least two more in this series which I will just have to get my hands on--this one can be read as a stand alone and from what I have read so can the others!

I finished reading "Spellbound in his Arms" in a singl

I finished reading "Spellbound in his Arms" in a single day. Trust me, that was not my intention. My very busy schedule allows me to
read while I commute to work and just a bit in bed, before my eyes slide shut and my Kindle hits me on the nose. Well, that wasn't
the case here. I stayed up well after my usual bedtime because I just had to finish this riveting story. Angel Sefer weaves an intricate
story full of twists, turns, mistrust and unexpected surprises that come down in a torrent from the very first page! The reader has
barely time to pause and breathe in the intoxicating bougainvillea aromas or take in the wonderful Corfiat scenery, and yet another
gunshot makes investigative reporter Jackie Alexander take flight. Most of the times though, she runs right into gorgeous detective's
Michael Apostolou's arms. If only she could be sure where he stands in this web of manipulative, deadly heirs and their victims that
    keep piling up.

If you enjoy suspenseful romances set against an exotic island setting, "Spellbound in his Arms" is just the book for you.

    Neither Fish Nor Fowl

This book just fell flat. It never really made it as a Romance nor as a Mystery Suspense.

The main characters were stilted while the bad guys were cliches. And if Jackie was supposed to be a hard boiled reporter, I'm a hard boiled egg. She was an idiot and Michael wasn't much better.

Because there were very few grammatical errors and I actually stuck with the book to the end, I am being generous and giving it two stars.
