This is probably one of the most disliked storylines in all of spiderman history. The plot? Carnage and his "family" roam NYC slaying people, fighting a ridiculous amount of heroes. Plain and simple. First, the art. Mark Bagley kills it. He knows how to draw his symbiotes. Sal Buscema's art is fantastic. Ron Lim's art is average and a bit sloppy. Alex Saviuk plays it careful with his art, but it is always enyoyable. Tom Lyle's art doesn't really appeal to me. Now the story. JM DeMatteis is terrific. He brings order to all of the bad parts. Tom Defalco started it off well, but ended it horribly. In my opinion, the story would have been better without Part 14. Terry Kavanagh is terrible every sentance the writes conitues for three panels, and his dialoge sounds so corny, it feels like a five-year-old had written it. David Michelinie is average. Nothing much happened in his parts, sadly. I would say the shining parts of this storyline are 1,3,5,9,11, and13. The rest is trash.

If I were asked to define Spider-Man, this is what I would give to the person who asked.

Many will say that thus collection wad too violent and a serious bad character turn, I say screw that noise! I loved how the story continually pushes Spidey to his breaking point it shows just how reasonable Spidey is until like any human cannot take the high road. If he needs to beat Carnage and his ultimate team of villains he needs to get his hands dirty. In the end that is not who Spidey really is and Venom shows him why Spidey is well " Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!!!" There a plethora of side characters both good & evil & not to mention insane. This collection is my all time fav. Spider-Man story
