First things first: Yes, you'll be able to dose your next karaoke party with those famous lines about spinning webs of any size when you pop this disc into your sound system. Aerosmith's update on the classic Spidey theme chugs along with gusto, although it doesn't approach the thrills 'n' spills approach of the original song, which also appears here. Admittedly, it's tough to discern exactly how most of the tunes here relate to snaring baddies. Songs such as the Strokes' sensuous "When It Started" and Macy Gray's typically oddball "My Nutmeg Phantasy" remixed here by Tom Morello would probably work wonders when Peter Parker played in this big-screen version by Tobey ...

Songs such as the Strokes' sensuous "When It Started" and Macy Gray's typically oddball "My Nutmeg Phantasy" remixed here by Tom Morello would probably work wonders when Peter Parker played in this big-screen version by Tobey Maguire sets his sights on snaring gal pal Mary Jane Watson Kirsten Dunst instead. Indeed, while there's a good bit of standard action pic thrashing -- Alien Ant Farm doing "Bug Bites" and Sum 41 turning in an alternate version of "What We're All About" -- this soundtrack provides more than just a pedal-to-the-metal thrill ride. Former Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell waxes nicely moody on " She Was My Girl," while Slipknot's Corey Taylor gives a glimpse at the real guy behind the mask on a dark but moving "Brother." Far more three-dimensional than most of its ilk, the soundtrack to Spider-Man should appeal to even diehard arachnophobes -- and maybe even a Woody Allen fan or two.
All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
The soundtrack to Spider-Man is pitched directly at the nu-metal
ap-rock/post-grunge crowd. Many of the bands do try to tie into the theme of Spider-Man -- Alien Ant Farm has "Bug Bytes," Chad Kroeger of Nickelback offers the dour anthem of "Hero" -- and some songs distinguish themselves along the way: the Hives display why they're rightly touted as an antidote to generic modern rock with "Hate to Say I Told You So," the Strokes toss in their B-side worthy "When It Started," and Pete Yorn gives listeners his gentle "Undercover."

This is a great CD, you've gotta go out and buy it!

I liked Chad Kroegers song because Josey Scott has a gorgeous voice, i liked Corey Taylor's (Slipknot) song because it was a change from Slipknot and very melodic, Jerry Cantrell's song is boss because it has the heavy guitar riffs the CD needs!!!!!

The best album I've purchased in years

There is not a solitary track on this album I do not like. I have been listening to it constantly since I bought it two weeks ago and I am not remotely bored of it. All the tracks are involving and it is truly a great album for turning up in the car when bombing along the motorway. Many of the tracks also have a great sing along feel (for when you have it turned up in the car :-)). My favourite tracks in order of preference are: Bother - Corey Taylor ... absolutely incredible track, great lyrics and fantastic singer; Hero - Chad Kroeger ... great rock ballad; Somebody Else - Bleu ... superb lyrics and great singer.

    Spider-Who? Soundtrack.....

Just kidding, the movie rocked, as does the equally entertaining soundtrack. This is honestly one of the best C.D's ever made. The only downers were really Macy Gray and Alien Ant Farm, they are a few i just dont listen to . I love all the other songs though. Theory Of A Dead Man is for sure gonna be huge and im sure the arent gonna be a poser band like Staind to Fred Durst(cause you know Chad Kroeger is responsible for discovering and producing them on his record label...what you didnt...)Any Nickelback is good Nickelback as far as im concerned. I have a Nickelback cover band and we are gonna be adding a few songs from this album to our song lists because that is how good it really is.I always know where you are, you never know where i am , you got me sneakin around, like the invisible man!!!Oh yeah Default rocks too.

    Pretty Good

Spider Man Soundtrack is pretty good. I've heard better, but also heard worse. The movie was good, and so was the CD. It has a couple good hits in my mind. I really liked Hero by Chad Kroeger, and Bother by Corey Taylor. Everyone was going on about how Theory of a Dead Man's song (Invisible Man), was so good. Well I really didn't like it as much as everyone said I would. Don't get me wrong or anything. They will be a good group, but I just didn't like the song. Some more good songs on this soundtrack are as follow: Learn to Crawl- Black Lab, Somebody Else- Bleu, Blind- Default, Undercover- Pete Yorn, and She was my Girl- Jerry Cantrell.

Buy this soundtrack, you wont regret it!

Basically this C.D is full of wicked bands doing wicked songs all of which are just fantastic. Basically, if you like music with a kinda rock vibe, then you can't go wrong with this. P.S Black Lab on this soundtrack absolutely rock

    Bleu Is Amazing!

The soundtrack is very good, but ''Somebody Else '' by Bleu is one of the best songs I've heard in years. It blows my mind.

Chad Kroeger's ''Hero'' song is the best

Chad Kroeger's vocals, along with those of Josey Scott, are perfect with the melody and words of this song. I was pleasantly surprised to find several other tracks I really liked (such as Invisible Man by a yet to be released band called Theory of a Dead Man). And the music by the Hives is great too.

Why didn't they use the Ramones version

I can't believe they didn't use the Ramones cover of the classic spiderman theme. The Ramones where from New York - home of Spiderman.Joey Ramone died last year ,It would have been a nice tribute. Aerosmith are a great band but it should have been The Ramones !

    Greatness

Overall, I was very impressed with the soundtrack. I love the second track to the 8th track and the final 3. Aerosmith's rendition of the Spiderman Theme was refreshing.
