Well, I'm gonna be honest. I was worried this book would fall totally short. This is one of those times where the blurb doesn't do the book total justice. You go into thinking one thing, and then you come out of it a few hours later a totally changed and giggling idiot.
I LOVED this book!
I hate to turn on the gush valve, but I'm just being honest.
The author knew what she was doing when she recreated the Rumble fairy-tale and sprinkled it with so much pretty moments, a rich plot, crazy characters and a really awesome male and female lead. This is important to me. You can literally sometimes write characters that have no chemistry. Form the moment Rue and Juliana met its like fireworks. They really don't like each other all that much and that lean so much to the story telling.
The romance is built in a three month time period--most people would call that insta-love, I would call that a fairy-tale retelling.
You know you have to really careful with this. Or you end up like the show Once Upon A Time and in a trap full of holes you can't write your way out of.
Vivi Andrews wrote this story so strong that I put it down maybe once and that was to get my daughter ready for bed before I picked it up again.
It was well written, smooth, sexy, and had you sobbing at certain points!
I would love for Vivi to write more retellings! This one had me so hooked and I would keep giggling because I was so happy to have found this on Netgalley!

Pretty good little novella. Im a sucker for a fairy-tale spin and I was not disappointed with this one. Rue (Rumpelstiltskin) and Juliana were great. I thought it was really interesting that the story of Rumpelstiltskin as we know it today was told as a sort of half truth in this story. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This novella is a different take on the Rumpelstiltskin story. I love that the prince is the bad guy. A man who threatens a woman to do an impossible thing or die is no prize of a husband. I loved that instead of a weird little imp Rumpelstiltskin is a sexy Fae in this version. Juliana a.k.a. the Miller’s Daughter/Princess is no damsel in this story, but a woman of action which is just the way I like it. A fast, fun read that has plenty of action and twists and turns. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Juliana Ravel didn't ask to be thrown into a fairy tale, but that's exactly what she gets when she desperately attempts to save her brother. Vivi Andrews has written a clever story that takes one of my least favorite fairytales and turns it into something adorable. She successfully flips the legend of Rumplestiltskin on its side with Rue and Juliana's story.
Spinning Gold was an easy read and the perfect antidote for a stressful week. If you are looking for something fun that you can escape into, this is it! I can't think of a more perfect pair to take with you on a day at the beach or to the pool than golden Rue and his heroine Juliana. Thank you, Vivi, for writing this unexpected Summer treat!
