Overview

In the tradition of Shrek, Dreamworks has wowed audiences with Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, its animated epic about a runaway stallion's voyage across the Old West. The sentimental feature gets an inspirational boost from the music of Canadian rocker Bryan Adams, who picks up on the success of his hit "All for Love," a collaboration with Sting and Rod Stewart for the Three Musketeers soundtrack, with a set of soulful rockers and ballads. Among the standouts is the bad-boy rock tune "Get off My Back," which Adams delivers with his familiar gritty vocals, and the ethereal ballad "Don't Let Go," sung by fellow Canadian Sarah McLachlan. Throughout, Adams's songs echo the film's themes of survival (as Spirit encounters man for the first time), hope (as the stallion eventually befriends a young Lakota brave), and new beginnings (as Spirit falls in love with a mare named Rain). In the absence of the syrupy songs often associated with kids' movies, this heartfelt soundtrack will appeal to more than just the film's youthful target audience. Similarly, the batch of instrumental pieces included here capture the movie's setting on the untamed American frontier with orchestral grandeur. The pairing of Bryan Adams, who brings his trademark voice and skillful ballad-crafting to the fore, with this sweeping animated flick has produced an uplifting album that's wonderfully sincere and -- no pun intended -- full of spirit.

I love this album. It really catches the feel of Spirit. Since watching the movie I can't listen to Sound the Bugle without crying! Sad I know, but I think it's really upsetting when Spirit is in the train. My two friends and I sat there crying our eyes out!

I think that Spirit was a rather mank film with good tracks. Buy the CD and you will see what I mean. Dreamworks have a good taste in music for those of you who bought Shrek you will know what I mean! Some of the tracks such as 'Rain' can get a little boring - they seem to go on for hours but have no words. The rest especially 'Get off of my back' are brilliant. Worth the money!

The movie was very impressively put together and the music matched to it was masterfully done. I know it took hard work to capture the feel of the movie like that. All the songs were perfectly matching the feelings Spirit must have had. My young counsins just LOVE the song "Get Off My Back"! Good job Bryan!

I don't really like movie soundtracks too much, but this one was just awesome. Bryan's voice just...goes with whatever he's singing. The music went perfectly with the movie (Spirit's being born and 'Here I Am' is playing in the background...bring on the waterworks!), and all of these songs are just awesome. My favorite is 'You Can't Take Me'.

Ok, for one thing, I think that the instrumental songs are THE best! My personal favorite was #10, "Run Free", which has amazing brass parts!! The first song sung by Bryan Adams wasn`t bad either!! A great CD to own!!

Beautiful lyrics and instrumental. They fit the movie well, but go great on their own. love this cd.

I love this CD and the movie...the songs fit the movie so well but even when you listen to them alone, they could have been songs you heard on a radio station! "Here I Am", "I Will Always Return" and "Sound the Bugle" are such strong songs, they are amazing!
