I have been an OLP fan since 97 and let me tell you that Spiritual Machines is by far the best material I have heard in many many years!!It's so great! It's OLP at its best!!Right Behind You reminds me of Clumsy and the hard rock tunes that OLP have bring in the past!In Repair is a great song and Life tells us about the multiple troubles you face in life but that no matter what, you'll get through it!The Powerful Middle Of Yesterday is very melodic and very good! Are you sad is about feelings and troubles that you face in life.I am not gonna describe the whole album because I don't want to give it all away but all I have to say is that it's the greatest album ever!!!And don't forget to request Life on your radio station!!
I love Our Lady Peace. This CD is absolutly amazing. Anyone out there who likes OLP I suggest you buy it, its so great.
Truth is beauty, beauty is truth. And Spiritual Machines is the most emotionally truthful, open and thoughtful album I've ever come across. Compared to other OLP albums this one is by far the most optimistic, as well it has a lot of variety. You have you almost ballad like songs, some that sound pop-ish, and others that are just damn good rock songs. This album has been called a concept record, but I just think of it as OLP going up a level.
On their fourth album, (and last with founding guitarist Mike Turner) OLP has turned out what is their most solid (though fortunately not straightforwardly blunt or poppy) album to date. The album contains more hooks than their previous works, and is more focused than their earlier three albums.
Our Lady Peace has really outdone themselves. This album is absolutely incredible with moving lyrics and riffs that take your mind on a journey. With the dialogue tracks, the band has really made the listener think and that is even more impressive. A must have in any collection. From the first track this album absolutely rocks and is very amazing. You'll have a hard time taking it out of your cd player. Buy it now, don't wait any longer you are missing out on an incredible experience.
'Spiritual Machines' is different than other albums. Not only does it have the spoken word tracks of author Ray Kurzweil, whose book was one of the inspirations to this album. Not only does it have a theme, that of humans vs. machines. But when you look beyond those elements everyone has been mentioning, it has magnificent songwriting and just great music. Raine's vocals are so unique that he is the only one I can think of that can carry the notes on 'All My Friends' and 'Are You Sad'. The chorus' to 'Made to Heal' and 'Middle of Yesterday' have such a hook to them that you can't not like them. I love 'Life' lyrically and has such a calming tone to the music, it's absolutely great. I highly recommend this album, I think it's Our Lady Peace's best to date. Tracks I can't stop listening to: In Repair, Life, and Right Behind You (Mafia).
well what can i say.... spiritual machines is one of a kind. it stands out unlike other albums. the best part about it are the lyrics. there's more to it than just the melody, it has strong meanings and messages. i can't wait to hear their next album, for i know the best is yet to come from my favourite band, our lady peace.
