Heather Webber
Fun, fresh, and flirty, Carpe Bead ’Em is the perfect read on a hot summer day. Tonya Kappes’ voice shines in her debut novel.
Review Aimee
Oh my goodness! I had a hard time putting this down. I was engrossed in the story from the moment I picked it up. Carpe Bead'em was such an enjoyable read. I don't delve into chick lit often enough.

The story was great. I don't know much about the fashion world, but I loved following Hallie through her job. The narration was perfect for me. The story wasn't overwhelmed with too much detail or too much inner dialogue, but held a perfect blend to make the story flow seemlessly.
Sia McKye
I loved it! It made me laugh out loud and shed a few tears. I love the way Hallie has to come face to face with her past to realize how much love she really had growing up. The courage to be who she is came from her aunt as did love of beauty and design. Really, motherhood is more than an act of birth and it's a lesson that Hallie has to learn. You'll love Hallie's sister-friends and wish they were yours. They cracked me up.

It's a fun summer read that leaves you feeling good.

Ok Read if you don't care about Grammar

The story was ok, and the pace was quick. A nice, easy read for the plane. However, I couldn't believe the amount of misspellings, grammatical errors and just plan confusing sentences. It was more like a fan fic than a published book. If those types of things bother you, you might find the second half of the book frustrating.

    Serious need for editing

I thought this was going to be a fun book to read, but the editing issues are so numerous that it hasn't been fun at all.

    Needs Editing

Finding it very difficult to continue reading this book due to all the spelling and grammar errors! Even the time line is a mess in places. They are in her house, then they are in the car, then she pours him a glass of chardonnay...that better not be in the car!! Love the concept and idea but only a few chapters in I am having difficulties getting past all the editing mistakes!

    more from this reviewer

Fun Read . . Don't miss this one!

Olivia (Liv) has a problem, well . . . sorta! See, she can read auras. Which make multiple human contacts a headache for her. After being asked to break up with a guy for a friend, she comes up with a way to work, and limit her contact with people.

    Splitsville(dot)com!

Wanna dump someone, but don't want to handle it yourself? Just log onto Splitsville(dot)com, fill out the form, make a payment and wait for your confirmation email. "Jenn" will make her call, doing the dumping for you, not giving up until she gets confirmation from the person being dumped that they know that's what just happened, and the you get an email telling you it's done.
    Easy as pie . . . right?
Not when your clients start coming up DEAD!
Now Olivia has to find away to keep her company from being pulled into the murder investigations. If people find out she is Splitsville(dot)com there goes her job and maybe even her life. (You kinda piss off a few people every now and again when you have dump them for other people.)

With the help of Aunt Matilda and her friends Olivia starts trying to put things together to clear her name. Can she do it in time and keep her company/identity a secret?

A fun read, that you won't want to put down.

Now that I know what it's about . . I absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a good read with lots of laughs.

    could have been better

The book started off great, but it had quite a few grammar mistakes. at one point the wrong name is used during a break up scene. the characters feel rushed and not properly developed. the ending is very rushed. the time line is confusing, how can a guy be breaking up with his girlfriend one day, then the next day be desperately in love with someone else and change everything about his life, make amends with everyone he's ever wronged? not only that, but if Erin had been bragging about her boyfriend for as long as it seems, the timing doesn't make any sense. it had potential, but it didn't live up to it.

    Fun read

I did enjoy this book and the easy way I was able to get into the character. It was a fun, light read. I hope to read more in the future. My only negative comment is that the author needed a better editor, as there were words missing.

    Loved it!

The book is hard to put down, but I don't like how one character is doing something and then the next second they're doing something else in a whole new place. It makes me flip back a few pages to see if I've missed something.

    Very good story!

Really the only reason I did not give this a 5 star was due to the terrible editing. A lot of errors. However, Olivia is funny and I really like the idea of a breakup website. It is kind of funny. Olivia's best friend Erin is kind of a weak girlie girl. Also, Olivia falls hard for Bradley on just one date. Not really my idea of true love. Good mystery involved and I didn't really figure it out until late in the story.

She received an award for this?

With all the errors in this book I find it hard to believe an award was considered. She has black hair, she has blond hair, and then it's black again. Spelling errors, confiusing sentences, however it does have a wonderful plot idea, the author needs to spend more time plottinf it out.

    Hate it......

It was poorly written. The plot was uneventful. I got through all of it, but huge waste of time.

    Not so great

Poor editing, story bounces back and forth with many errors, and the ending is contrived.

Not a good choice, really bad writing & typos

Not that great. I felt a lot of the writing was unclear and hard to understand. The plot was really boring, and to much detail was given in some parts and not nearly enough in others. I didnt find the book funny in parts where it was intened to be. I kept trying to get into the book, hopeing it would pick up but no such luck. My suggestion is to pass on this one.
