Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
In 1660, on a dark night, a pirate and his horse drowned while trying to lure a ship into unsafe waters so that the pirate plundered it. For the next hundred years, the ghost of the horse had been seen leading ships to safety to make up for the pirate's bad deeds. Nearly 300 years ago, Martha was born at Shirley Plantation house. When she married and moved away to England, her picture was hung on the wall. When the picture was moved about 100 years later, it started to make tapping noises. In 1974, it was displayed in New York City with other haunted objects. A gold miner in the 1800s went to Colorado to find gold and a wife. He asked many women to marry him. After he died single, his skeleton was seen proposing marriage to more women. His bones were buried many times. Finally, the skeleton was dropped into an outhouse where his voice could still be heard. Captain Easkoot became a bitter man when his beloved wife died. When he died, his coffin was dropped, and the hook that had replaced his left hand fell out and was lost. His ghost can be seen at times along the beach looking for his hook.
